Having walked the length of the High Line in the morning we ended up in West Village, our daughters wanted to see the apartment buildings featured in Friends and Sex in the City which were found easily and quickly thanks to google maps. As it was just before Christmas many places were decoratedgiving the place an even better feel, it was also rather quiet which made for a nice relaxing walk and the opportunity to get a few photo's. Missed out on seeing Washington Park unfortunately but maybe next time.

From a Bakery in Greenwich village, we headed north and went to the west village and continued towards Chelsea market. This neighborhood had lots of small and low buildings, some famous like the one from sex in the city, but the place was not bustling as I like and I saw several shops opening either late am or in the afternoon, there were few real landmarks worthy of your time and in general we enjoyed walking around while having a coffee but not much else.

THE WEST VILLAGE is like my Home in NYC. I appreciate every step that I did there! Manorial houses and Pent Houses, nice people carring beauty dogs in a slowly atmosphere, so much different of the Times Square...Nothing in the World is better to Me than walk by Broadway in the 70 or 60 St!...

This is definitely NY. The best thing to do here is just walk around. The vibe is so NY, with small, local shops. Restaurants which are authentic and dark. Brownstones which makes you wish for fewer tall condo projects. Neighborhood vibe, dogs, mom's w/ baby strollers, stores you never heard of which sells the perfect tee shirt, cafe's which have designer coffee, brisk tree lined streets. Very old school NY

It’s our favorite part of Manhattan. It’s not a perfect grid so you can really wander and immerse yourself in the neighborhood. There are loads of cool shops and great bars/restaurants. The residential architecture with colonial brownstones is the side of New York City you see in movies and TV. There is also interesting history like the Stonewall Inn riots. When you need a break, Washington Square Park is a wonderful spot for people watching.
