There's nothing "special" about the Citigroup building, BUT the lower level houses what's called a "Privately Owned Public Space" -- meaning the building owners got a tax break for allowing people to use it as a public space. If you need to take a break from sight seeing, or need an indoor place to sit down and eat your street... More

Arguably, the most dramatic skyscraper built after WW II, Citicorp on Lexington Ave b/w 53rd and 54th was erected in 1977. Originally the developer was planning to have residences in the upper floors, but a zoning variance was denied and it's all offices. The lobby has a pleasant public area to sit and munch (plenty of places to buy food... More

Nothing special at all about this location, it's just a regular office building. Ok so there's a nice enough fountain outside, but the place is not really a tourist attraction as such. Probably if you work there the views are quite decent, but of course as a tourist there's no easy way to get access.

This is really just a modern office building and is by no means particularly special. The GE building nearby is much more impressive. Short stop only is more than sufficient.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit—spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's heaven where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit the Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
