Famous as the site of riots in 1969 which spurred the creation of the gay rights movement, the Stonewall Inn Bar is otherwise an unassuming small spot that is quite dark, feels crowded because of the low ceiling and throbbing with loud music making conversation difficult. If you're looking to grab a stamp for your National Parks' Passport just ask... More

We wanted to visit the Stonewall Inn due to its historical significance in the gay rights movement. They have a great happy hour and we had a few drinks while soaking up the ambiance. Nice place -- we'll be back.

Great atmosphere... was there on a very crowded but the drinks were easy to get and entertainment was really enjoyable. I liked that downstairs and upstairs had separate vibes/entertainment.

When in NY, I had o stop by the birthplace of Gay Pride. The historic Stonewall Inn is just your average neighborhood friends bar, but the weight of history clings to it. Drop in and have a drink. Fun bartender and a nice place to spend an hour of so on a rainy spring day in the Village.

Due to its history I thought this would be a little bit more classy rather than just another run of the mill average bar.

A nice fun bar, though it did have a musty smell in it. Fun bartenders, and the drinks were good. Priced for the area, and Monday night bingo with Kenny Dash was a riot!

Okay, so imagine you'd just been on a 7 hour flight, drank 2 bottles of Prosecco at Heathrow, taken full advantage of the airplane minibar, lost your phone, dumped your bags and are eager to hit the bright lights of the big city, where do you go!? THE STONEWALL of course. It's like gay Mecca, and no gay can claim... More

I was exploring alone in NYC for a day before I went back to DC for some business. Can I just say being from Orlando I was extremely moved by this presentation? I was near the site of the Orlando shooting that evening before and when I heard it that next morning I was completely shooken up. The amount of... More

The gay bar that started the gay rights movement. Filled with memorabilia. Grab a drink and read the writing on the wall. Or simply come here and party!

Staying in West Village

Neighbourhood Profile
West Village
Stretching from Sixth Avenue to the Hudson River, the West Village is one of the city’s most coveted addresses. Full of trendy shops, historic taverns, and cozy restaurants set amid 19th century architecture, this neighbourhood has a unique old-world feel. You won’t find a more picturesque location in Manhattan. Without the traditional city grid layout, it’s easy to get lost here, but that’s part of the fun as you stroll down elegant narrow streets with beautiful brownstones. When you need a break, you can always stop in at one of the many quaint eateries or cafes to soak in the atmosphere, or head to the western edge of the neighborhood to enjoy magnificent waterfront views while taking a leisurely walk in Hudson River Park.
