Great Ride to Roosevelt Island with a stunning view over the river. If you want you can continue your journey with a ferry.

Definitely try this when you are visiting New York City. A very scenic way to travel over to Roosevelt Island, and then a beautiful walk around the island to admire the cherry blossoms, Cool transit.

Barely anyone ever visits the tramway which is a shame as it really is a little hidden gem in NYC. You get a great view on the way over and Roosevelt island is a nice place to take a walk when the weather is good....More

Well this was a pleasant surprise that friends stumbled across and recommended... I've read the NYC Lonely Planet guide front to back a few times and couldn't find anything about this at all - they've missed a trick! It's lovely to see the Manhattan skyline...More

I always visit this attraction when I'm in New York. Take the F train to Roosevelt Island subway station - orange on the map. Short walk to the tramway, which is essentially a cable car over the East River. You can use your Metrocard, which...More

Enjoyable trip to Roosevelt Island on tram. Only the cost of a Metro ride. Also free bus to tour the island. Peace a quiet from the hubbub of Central Manhattan.

You can use your metro card for this ride which lasts about 5 min to Roosevelt Island. When we rode it, it wasnt too crowded. Once we landed you can walk the "not so crowded" island in peace to visit different areas or take the...More

Great fun to swish lazily over the river below and settle into the landing dock like a spaceship landing in a foreign land. Breathtaking views

This is a sweet little cable car ride going over to Rossevelt Island. Only takes a few minutes, and costs the same as a subway ride (you use your Metrocard like on the subway), but you get some nice views on the way across and...More

Copied from the famous trams that traverse mountain and lakes in Switzerland, New York City’s Roosevelt Island Tramway opened in 1976. It spans the East River connecting Manhattan and Roosevelt Island (formerly “Cook Island” and “Welfare Island”), a quiet residential area and is the only...More

I am not sure. You should check the website for that as I still saw them working on it two months ago. You can use your metropass/subway pass for the ride and YES, it is well worth the trip on a nice day. Try to walk around... More
