It can be used with your Metro card, so if you have a 7 day pass the tramway is in effect a free pass. It is a short ride, takes about 5 minutes to get across on the cable car - there are two cars,...More

The tram ride is very nice and the views are incredible and its very impressive to see how built up Roosevelt island is. The only thing is riding the tram is a pain because they require QUARTERS or a Metro card, and they don't have...More

Not many knows about this tramway and the island itself is so small and you will hardly see people. Nice view of Manhattan with quite river side walk! Amazing quite place in the heart of Manhattan!

I wanted to ride the RI tram on one of my previous trips to New York, but it didn’t happen. This December, I was determined to get there. I went just before sundown. Added to the fading light, some construction made finding the entrance a...More

A cheap adventure just a metro pass for $2.85. Trip across to RI but the sky line and the visions of being so high up is worth the trip to see. It is a short trip but oh the views.

We was recommended to go over the tramway as you get some amazing views of the city. We timed it just before it got dark so went over one way during the day and returned when it was dark. I love seeing NYC change into...More

I love it. It cost the same as a subway ticket (can use the metro card as well). It takes you from mid Manhattan to Roosevelt Island. A very nice experience if you want to get out of the clouds, have a nice walk and...More

We happened to discover the Roosevelt Island Tramway by chance. As we had a Metrocard, the journey was free, so we hopped on solely for the novelty. It made for some stunning video footage of the Queenboro Bridge. We found that there wasn't much to...More

WIN SOME – first the good news. Cost is the same as the subway – and if you have a subway pass you can use it. This means with an unlimited trips pass the tramway will cost no extra. Pretty good deal – value wise...More

It runs every 7.5 minutes, or sooner at rush hour. We really enjoyed the ride over and only wished we’d had more time to spend walking once over.

There is street parking near the Tramway station. I would imagine that there is a parking garage or parking lot in the vicinity considering its relative proximity to the United Nations.
