While waiting for the Blue Man show, I wandered the streets and stumbled onto this exquisite little building, five stories high and built for a large family in the early 19th Century. Filled with objects from the family's own possessions, and a few odd ball...More

If you are interested in how people used to live this old 1830's house in near original condition is well worth visiting. Do take a guided tour, ours brought the house, it's history and that of it's inhabitants to life and we had an excellent...More

Thank you so much for the excellent review! The Candlelight Ghost Tours bring in much-needed funds for the museum. Especially now as we continue to battle developers who plan to build next door. Construction would cause catastrophic damage to our 1832 landmark building - and...More

Thanks for visiting. I am truly sorry the house was "too simple and boring" for you! But reassured that you saw its "potential." For the past 6 years, we have been fighting the proposed development of an 8-story hotel right next door. Construction could be...More

This house museum could be the epitome of all house museums. Very well done, with original furniture, which is very unusual. The volunteers are very knowledgeable. There is a lot of information about the family who lived here, even some information about their servants. It...More

I loved finding this museum! I did a google search for museums during our long weekend trip in July and found it. It’s a small location, not like other large Manhattan touristy museums. It’s a house that a merchant shipman bought. The guide was very...More

The museum has a lovely yard with excellent sandscaping that creates the perfect setting for a small wedding: romantic, historic, and transcendent. The staff is excellent and supportive, and the building itself is very well maintained.
