I've lived and worked in NYC my whole life. It's the best city anywhere! Vibrant 24/7, there's always something to do and see and eat! If you've never been to the city, get here now!!

This was my fourth trip to New York. I have heard people say be very careful in New York, all the crime and rude people. I took my family this time who said some of these things in the past. They were pleasantly suprised to find some of the kindest people in the world. At least four times people came... More

New York City. what can i say. Hustle, bustle, uncompromising, wonderful sights and great diversity. We have just stayed for 4 nights and packed in as much as we could which gave us sore legs with all the walking but what a great experience. You must use the subway, cheap and efficient but a nightmare to navigate. Uptown, downtown, express,... More

What a let down! American Airlines so kindly flew us into NY on 28 October 2012, just in time to greet Hurricane Sandy. What were they thinking of? Clearly their bonuses, not the passengers! We therefore spent 4 extremely uncomfortable days at Crowne Plaza, which was without any meaningful service, restaurant facilities OR for the best part of our stay,... More

I recently went to new York City and learned some great things I would like to share. The first thing is to not be afraid of the Subway. Do buy a multiple day pass when you first arrive, because kiosk lines can be long and new Yorkers are in a rush. Don't hold up the line. Download the HopStop application... More

We took our two teenage boys to NYC for six nights. Stayed at the Wellington Hotel (check review). Got there early evening. Went straight to Time Square. For the first time this was amazing and busy. There were lots and lots of people you could barely walk around. Lots of police around so we felt very safe at all times.... More

Went to the Hotel on Rivington for New Years. DON'T DO IT! The staff was helpful however the overall experience was horrible. The tickets were expensive, which is expected for New Years in New York. However I felt scammed. When we arrived at the hotel there were two lines. One for people who had tickets and another for people who... More

Staying in Lower East Side

Neighbourhood Profile
Lower East Side
Straddling the bridge between New York’s thriving immigrant past and its modern transformation into a beacon of global art and culture, the Lower East Side is one of the most dynamic neighbourhoods in the city. The blocks of tenements that represented the promise and blight of the Lower East Side immigrant experience now command top dollar for new residents. Right next to old-world delis, 24-hour bodegas, and the garment shops of Orchard Street, you’ll find hip clubs, fashionable bistros, and luxury hotels beckoning at all hours of the evening. If you love nightlife and live music, it’s hard to beat the scene here.
