We had read so much about the new Second Avenue subway, we had to try it. Yes the stations and car are new and modern. It definitely fills a void for those living or working on the East side of Manhattan.

After 10 years of disruption and noise, the Q line opened and has made an amazing difference. One can travel from the Upper East Side straight to Coney Island and the Aquarium without needing to transfer. On top of which, each of the three stations--96th...More

Entertaining Walking Tours Guide, Phil Desire, gave an interesting, lively, well-paced tour of the art in the four subway stations of the “new”(1 year old) Second Avenue Subway life be. Make sure to have a Metro Card to enter the subway station.

Nice new subway station. Our luck was that on the day we were there the up escalator was not in working order. What a trek it was climbing up a staircase with a very sharp incline. I couldn't look back !!!!!

The 2nd Avenue subway finally opened after years of mucking up traffic on the east side, and the result will be the same as the Highline downtown: rising rents. OK, a quicker commute, but from an apartment you can't afford any more. Really fine art...More
