Oh the only place anyone should ever have to go

YAS. YAS. YAS. Komnata Quest Manhattan, if I was to name one company as my all time favorite escape rooms, there is no question Komnata Quest is at the very top of my list. Their attention to detail, mixed with immersive and lively atmospheres makes for the best Escape Rooms any fanatic could wish for. But for an actual review I will now review each room the Manhattan location has, in a non ranked fashion.

- Sherlocked(Personal Favorite): Done in 58 mins. This is easily the ultimate escape room, with set design that sustains, but does not overpower, and a linear timeline of puzzles like no other. For the escape room and Sherlock enthusiasts, I recommend this room in every way possible. And no, it is not like all other Sherlock rooms.
- Cursed: Done in 56 mins. I am not lying when I say this, Cursed is the scariest out of all the rooms I have ever done, and that number goes above one hundred. But in all it’s terror, it still maintains simple, yet ingenious physical challenges, and has a story like I’ve never seen before. I do give a hard warning for this room as it could be seen as upsetting(as it flirts with death) yet the longer you are in there, the more and more familiar you become to the space, even if there is a jump scare here or there.
- Haikana: Done in 59 mins. Okay, if you want Mystical, if you want Creepy, if you want whatever the heck fantastical kinda stuff Haikana is, you got it. Haikana is the only room that, categorized with mazes, is actually able to pull off the hard aspect of: a) contorting reality and b) allowing you to lose a sense of time and placement. Haikana does such a beautiful and mysterious way of setting up a story line, and by bringing in puzzles in the faintest, yet most challenging of ways. And even if it is considered to be a beginner level, you will get lost in the haunting atmosphere of the Haikana Maze.
- Vault: Done in 44 mins. Having loved all the fallout versions the game has set out, the Vault is one of few escape rooms that, when based off a video game, can really immerse you in that setting. The Vault was able to provide a sense of a very clear outline of tasks, while both lightly hinting towards Fallout references, and straight up pulling in animatronics. It really does do a beautiful job of bringing in the idea of levels that a video game has, and therefore its set is able to perfectly compliment the video-game style.

Overall, Komnata Quest Manhattan, is one of the few locations that can bring in several different themes, while still creating much more than decent rooms. Thank you guys, genuinely, and I implore everyone to try each and everyone of these games. As they are not only safe and welcoming, but are the best example for a Emma building exercise.

Best escape the room experience
Mar 2019 • Friends
This is the 2nd time I've done escape the room. The experience with Komnata Quest is so much better than my previous experience with another company. I like the smaller group size and the private group. The puzzles are a lot of fun and well thought out. Everything from the decor to the backstory were well executed, which made the experience really enjoyable. The staff was also really helpful. Would highly recommend.

Great sets, clever puzzles.

Set design is really great. They go all out with the themes (did the Maze of Hakaina and the Vault so far) and the puzzles and contraptions are really innovative. The puzzles are tough but almost always fair.

Cursed is a solid scare
Jan 2019 • Friends
My husband loves being scared so for his birthday I did my researched and found this was the highest ranked scary escape game in the city. I really hate scary movies, haunted houses, even small jump scares by friends, so this was a HUGE step for me. And it took a lot for me to stay in the whole time, and I definitely had to lean on a friend through most of it. It had some amazing technical effects and jump scares for days. The other 4 members of our group were less into scares than my husband, but were all having a blast and everyone had a really fun time digesting the scares afterwards.

The puzzles weren't the hardest, but I honestly think we would've had a harder time getting out if they'd been the usual Komnata level, the terror and low lighting slowed us WAY down.

I can't stress enough how much you need to try to stay together, especially when going into a new room. I had read this in reviews and we still didn't stay together enough for all the group to be a part of some of the coolest effects.

THE BEST IN NYC
Jan 2019 • Couples
Best escape rooms in NYC, hands down.

My boyfriend and I came here for The Vault, stayed for the Maze of Hakaina. Came back the next day for Cursed and Sherlocked. This is by far the best group of escape rooms in NYC – they are immersive, exquisitely well-planned, and beautiful. I’ll talk about each individually below. We did all of the rooms with just the two of us, which made it more challenging at times but also made it a lot of fun.

Shout out to Ricardo, who was such a great person, easy to work with, and accommodating (getting us started in rooms early if they were available so we didn’t have to wait around, etc.)

A note: some of the negative rooms are people who were late and were upset about not being able to play or having time taken off their total time. Simple solution: Be on time. It’s common courtesy.

Now for the rooms, in the order we did them:

1. The Vault: So well done. I don’t play a lot of video games, but I appreciated the attention to detail. My boyfriend spent the entire time oohing and aahing about the minutiae. Great puzzles, no video game knowledge required.
2. Maize of Hakaina: Incredibly story-driven game, with lots of twists and turns. Very beautiful and spooky. Fewer puzzles, but a great story.
3. Cursed: Holy sh*t this one was scary. I loved the story, and the room was difficult in large part because I was scared out of my mind. This one would be perfect for Halloween (or any time really).
4. Sherlocked: Just amazing. If I had to pick one type of storyline, it would be murder mystery, especially Sherlock-themed. The details on this one were amazing, and we loved the first puzzle especially. Although this one has the lowest success rate we made it out in record time!

If you’re on the fence – JUST DO IT. You won’t regret it.
