Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The Meatpacking District is close to the West Village and Greenwich Village and as a result this area has become quite trendy. One must see destination in this neighbourhood is the High Line which is an amazing urban garden however it gets very busy with tourists.

There are plenty of places to get a drink and something to eat around here and I would recommend visiting the area whilst you are in New York.

This area is great! Convenient for walking, a lot of bars and restaurants, and it is charming.

Loved the Highlane also, starting here, it was a walk I did almost every day during my visit to NYC.

Great for celeb spotting. Beautiful area which felt clean and safe. Made my sons day with the celebs. We came across it by chance but will return

What has happened to the Meatpacking district is sickening. It was once home to the great Hellfire club and Lee Brewsters boutique. There was Mothers at Jackie 60 and all kinds of wild Street life. All now gone to make room for wealthy scum.

This is our first visit to the Meatpacking District. We came for a visit to the Lucid Studio. Plenty of old architecture in this neighborhood. Many of the old meatpacking plants were converted to restaurants, trendy stores, art galleries with apartments above.

My favorite part of this neighborhood was the cobblestone streets. Seeing the cobblestone makes you think of the times of horse and buggy.

The neighborhood was very busy and bustling on a warm spring Sunday. No shortage of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops.

Note: This neighborhood is accessible by bus. Subways are a decent walk east.

This is an incredible neighborhood to explore with family and friends. After a nice walk on the high line we end up here. You can find a variety of great restaurants and shops in a traditional low rise area. I truly recommend.

Meatpacking is what this place was, about 100 years ago. But this area has always been associated with change.
~250 years ago - rowhouses and a somewhat desirable place to live
~150 years ago - heavy industry moves in
~100 years ago - meatpacking district name is appropriate
~50 years ago - nightclubs
~40 years ago - sex clubs, prostitution, and drugs
~30 years ago - beginning of gentrification
~15 years ago - super chic
Currently a very high end area of the city with boutiques, expensive rent and the highline walkway, making this an incredibly desirable area to live once again

Way back in the 80s this used to be a walk on the wild side, but now it's a walk in Prada. Just one designer store after another, plus a lot of expensive restaurants all in the repositioned area, a total transformation. When you walk around, try to imagine a formally very dangerous area.

NYC's former Meatpacking District has been largely redeveloped into a mixture of upscale shops & restaurants. Most of them are still open, but you'll now see a lot of empty storefronts. There's enough of the remaining meat distributors to make this an eclectic neighborhood.

New York constantly regenerates itself. This area once had hundreds of meat packing works, now its a haven for artists. The transition is amazing. It's also known for its high-end fashion. The Whitney, which has the world's best collection of American art, is nearby. You can access the area by the High Line, which is an old rail line. It is now an elevated linear park,
