My wife, daughter and I visited the Museum last week. While my daughter explored on her own, my wife and I spent almost 2 hours on a guided tour. We learned some interesting info on NYC, but I can't get over the amount of misguided/lacking...More

Great museum with interesting exhibits related to the history of New York City - and without the crowds of other Museum Mile museums! I've been to the Museum of the City of New York a couple of times, and I've always been impressed by the...More

I reviewed this museum on our last visit to New York and was so delighted to return. Watching the 30 minute film narrated by the great Stanley Tucci is important and a year later did not seem repetitive. The permanent exhibits celebrate the city and...More

I went here four years ago and took my husband this time around. It is a fantastic museum which offers different exhibitions to other normal museum, plus a very well depicted history of NYC. A must do!

I found that this Museum was a wealth of knowledge. However much of it was reading. I liked learning about the history of NYC. But it gets a bit overwhelming. Plan to do this in a couple sessions. Perhaps, History specific to the development. Then...More

This museum is not that interesting. There are lots of things to read but minimal displays of interesting objects. It is in an old mansion on 5th Avenue although it has been stripped of the interesting bits. There is a nice cafe.

I am a lifelong New Yorker, but had never visited, what a mistake. I spent over 4 hours there and still did not see everything the museum has to offer. The history of New York, explored through diversity, density and commerce, as well as its...More

Loved this museum the display was well laid out and allows audio, visual and tactile interaction of the exhibits. It is worth a stop and the restrooms were in good condition which I had to mention considering across the street. Also the cafe and gift...More

I just thought of one more excellent book on Broadway, full with illustrations: "Notes on Broadway": conversations with the great songwriters, by Al Kasha and Joel Hirschhorn
