The Park covers a large area with nice boardwalks for viewing the sound and river. But the most sobering exhibit is a true-sized replica of the Queen Elizabeth ship that brought the first settlers to Roanoke. It was 69 feet long and accommodated 50 people. All passengers were kept below deck through the voyage while crew managed the ship. You... More

This is a small park with replicas of the village where the colonists might have lived and a ship that they sailed on. There were two docents on hand to explain blacksmithing, wood-working, village life and customs. Two docents on the ship, both females, were great. The third docent, male, was very rude and the reason I can't give 5... More

Nice place and exhibits. There were only 4 folks in character on a Thu in early April. It may be more immersive in the summer. Enjoyed the museum very much with something for everyone in our group of 9 yr old to 62 yr old.

You could board a replica ship, take a look at an old settlement, and experience how the Indians lived. But with the exception the ship and the settlement there was no one to explain anything. The settlement had 2 people working but there were quite a few visitors so she was unable to work with everybody. The person working as... More

Beautiful park, walk from downtown, or drive, lots of parking. Lots of exhibits and living history. Even a ride on a replica of one of the ships.

It's on it's own little island! What a great place to hold an event. Nice grounds. I didn't visit the museum, but they have a pretty large one there as well. We stumbled on this place and walked around, very nice scenery.

Went totally off-season, so characters were limited, It was still fun because there was a lot of hands-on interaction! My 12 year old granddaughter and I dressed in the clothes of the period. The blacksmith gave a demonstration of his nail making and presented my granddaughter a nail he made to take home as a souvenir. There are displays outside... More

This was similar to jamestown but a bit more local in flavor and scale. Personable period actors who were very engaging and educational. Nice small walk and great location. Very nice indorr explaination of history.

Even though we went when it was just starting to be the off season, there was still plenty to see and a variety of people to talk to. The staff dress in period clothing and talk (as best they can) like you would expect from this era. The boat was amazing and it was even more amazing to find out... More
