My husband and I were in Old Town and I was intrigued by this site. Neither of us are particularly religious and don't come from Mormon backgrounds, but nevertheless this was very interesting. Our tour was led by one of the Sisters who kept us engaged the whole time. The tour was surprisingly interactive which was both cheesy and enjoyable.... More

What a great place. Takes less than 2 hours and I would have enjoyed more. Great presentations. NO ENTRY FEE AND/OR DONATION !!!! The Mormon Church does all the funding. Wonderful Docents. We had the privilege of meeting Sister Gunter and Sister Hemingway. Made the journey in history memorable. This is as good as it gets and it is a... More

Mormon Battalion Historic Site in Old Town San Diego (a few miles northwest of downtown) is where visitors are taken on a tour of what life was like for more than half-thousand Mormon (LDS) men who made a 2,000-mile march from Council Bluffs, Iowa, to San Diego during the Mexican–American War. There are tour guides dressed in period costumes who... More

Wow, I was expecting another boring museum visit, but this was awesome! This is a walk through experience guided by missionaries and very entertaining videos of actors walking you through the experience of being in the Mormon Battalion. Very uplifting and entertaining for all ages and religious backgrounds. Plus, you get a free picture of your family as a keepsake... More

We were in the San Diego area and decided to visit the Mormon Battalion Historic Site. We were both so impressed with the docents and the presentation. We learned something about U.S. History that we didn't previously know. Very interesting and family friendly.

Old Town is one of the few places in the area that is free and is interesting, It is not Disneyland-nothing is! The Battalion has a free parking lot to go with its hour of history including things to keep kids interested. It is about men that volunteered at short notice to defend the West. Some left alone and many... More

This is a free attraction within short walking distance of Old Town San Diego. It is run by the LDS (Mormon Church). I had been to this center about 25 years ago. So much has been changed and updated. The tour takes about 40 minutes and gives you a sense of the Mormon Battalion. You move from room to room... More
