Overview
More
The San Diego Museum of Man is your museum! Join the hundreds of thousands of people each year who come to see its exhibits on beer, monsters, torture, race, human and primate evolution, and more. You can also experience one of most important ancient Egyptian collections in the United States, which includes authentic Egyptian mummies, an exceptionally rare child sarcophagus, and one of the world's few surviving examples of Nefertiti's cartouche. Also, for the first time in 80 years, we are now offering guided tours of the California Tower - one of San Diego's most iconic landmarks. Tower tour tickets are timed like theater tickets, so be sure to purchase tickets in advance to secure your desired date and time.

Museum of Man brings history to life. I loved the interactive beer exhibit that not only explained the history of beer, but also how to make beer, and what produced the different tastes. Around the corner was another great display of Mayan artifacts. Of course,...More

We love a museum so we decided to explore the Museum of Man. There are a variety of exhibits and rather than speed through them all, we rather spend our time exploring a few in depth. The exhibits we did enjoy included race, animals/pets, evolution...More

The only connecting theme between exhibits is that it's about human culture - but where they excel in diversity of topics, there's varying depth of information. On the day we visited, there was a small exhibit of pets/animals, beer, and race/ethnicity with what looks like...More

For the price, this is a very average attraction. We found that museums can be brilliant, even if they don't have a lot of funds, but this museum was disappointing. Perhaps most disappointing was the lack of original artifacts. The cannibal exhibit was informative and...More

Close to parking, but get there before before 9:30 to get a good spot - the museum doesn't open until 10 am. A beautiful building with good traveling exhibits. We had a person in a wheelchair who was able to experience everything but the tower...More

The museum itself is decent. I found some exhibits to be boring, but I loved the race exhibit. Admissions for the museum are a little pricy I think. I paid extra for the tower tour and cannibal exhibit. The cannibal exhibit was ok, not the...More

To me, this museum feels as though every exhibit has been overseen by a different person, each with vastly different ideas of what they should be like. This made for a disjointed yet interesting experience. During our time there we visited the following exhibits, and...More

I've never written a negative review for a museum but this place left me feeling fleeced. $57 for a family of four; most exhibits were just standing and reading and most fell pretty flat. The cannibal exhibit was a bit more interesting but bordered on...More

Hi--well good news and bad news. Museums are free to resident's on Tuesdays, but the cannibal exhibit is extra charge even on free days. Good luck!
