This is one of the museums we were looking forward to visiting in the park. It is very attractive on the outside and looks big. It isn't, it actually has limited display areas. (This seems common to many of the museums in the park.) It...More

We did the museum day pass that allowed 5 museums in one day. This one probably ranked third out of 5. Good exhibits, just not a lot of them.

Only one of Balboa Park's great museums. Be sure to plan enough time to see all 3 of the 3D movies scheduled throughout the day.

Visited recently on a wet day in San Diego, the museum is good and worthy of a few hours but it is not a full day out, the Dinosaur exhibits are well presented with a couple half skinned which is an interesting idea Combine with...More

I was expecting something more from this museum. I hoped to learn much more. Loved their dinosaur and fossil exhibits though! Kids will be sure to like this! Really wish I could've come during the Mayan exhibit.

To be honest, I expected a bit more from this museum (ie: an explanation of human evolution, not just skulls), but what was on show about fossils and whales was interesting and very comprehensive, especially for kids. We bought a family pass $79 and the...More

We went to this museum because we love museums of this nature. I have to say we were disappointed. The museum is great if you have you kids or grand kids tagging along. There are many interactive activities designed for children and the kids seem...More

I like that the museum is not huge and overwhelming. It has a nice mix of dinosaurs and mammals. Also, there are quite a few live animals. The staff is great and very helpful at helping you spot things in exhibits that you may not...More

If you want to immerse yourself in the experience, give yourself 60 to 90 minutes. Multiple floors. Interactive displays. Distinct time frames. A gem.
