Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

We will never go again. It cost more than anyother place we toured. Once was enough for us. Zoo is clean and staff is friendly.avoid the gift shops or you will leave broke.

Lots of walking, up and down inclines. Bus tour available. Lots of different animals that other zoos do not have. I was amazed at how large the hippo was! Beautiful giant! We had to check back on the panda exhibit, both were sleeping so we weren't able to see them in the morning.... zoo keeper informed us that pandas have... More

I've been to this zoo so I knew it was a big place. According to the bus driver during our tour it is a little over 90 acres. It is one of the best zoo's I have ever seen. Plan on at least a couple of hours for the visit. It is well worth your time.

This zoo is fantastic! So big with so many different animals. It is organized quite well with similar animals together. This makes it easy to make sure you hit up all the areas and see all the animals. Animals are clearly taken care of well. There are many spots to stop for lunch and the little restaurants go along with... More

This zoo is definitely the pinnacle of all zoos. The exhibits are immaculate and the animals look well taken care of. The staff was super knowledgeable and helpful. The only thing that was a downer was that the food was super expensive. Be prepared to walk up and down hills, it's a heck of a walk to do the entire... More

It lives up to it's world class reputation. Pandas are cute, but I thought the Secretary Birds were impressive.

We visited the Zoo early February, there were a couple of areas closed and a number of animals that had been moved, the staff around didn't know where they had been moved to. There were not many highlights. The gorillas were amazing but you could tell they have no interest in being stared at, they just wanted back into their... More
