Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

Large Zoo great for walking. A bit too, pricey compared to other zoos that are equally nice. Balboa Park next door is a must!

My 3-year old son and I went to the Zoo straight from the airport as the place we would be staying was not ready. They stored our three big suitcases at the stroller rental, with no problem. We were not very energetic that day due to our travels but had a relaxed pleasant time there. There were options for us... More

A wonderful zoo, I spent all day there wandering around! You definitely need more than the four hours recommended on trip advisor to really appreciate everything there is to see. Lots of emphasis on education and conservation. Book online with trip advisor and walk straight to the turnstiles, no queuing!

If you happen to visit to San Diego, then you must go to San Diego zoo. The zoo is a non-profit organization and use all money from the tickets towards animals and their maintenance. The ticket usually comes with "unlimited" bus tour, kangaroo ride and skyferi ride. I recommend to start the visit using the bus tour first. It gives... More

Visited SD Zoo again since last visits in 1990s. The Zoo is still unbelievable and definitely worth the visit, especially for the 100th Anniversary. Great to see more transport options, as there can be a lot of walking. Zoo currently under major re-model, and looking forward to coming back to see new additions. Thanks to SD Zoo for all they... We had a blast at the San Diego Zoo! We walked the entire zoo in less than 4 hours...everyone was friendly and we saw so many great animals! It's a must see for sure!

It's the best zoo! You must go here to make a San Diego trip complete. We went mid week and had minimal crowds.

The kids were super excited to see the panda! Its just like Poe! The weather was cool so it wasn't that crowded. Many great exhibits and lots of different species. The San Diego zoo is famous for a reason, Thanks for the fun day!

We had a group from 9 to 55 years old. Everyone had a great time. There were a few exhibits that were closed or under construction, but there was so much to see that it did not matter to us. We especially enjoyed riding in the upper deck of the bus around the zoo to get a different perspective. We... More

We thought it was quite expensive to get in but there is so much to see it is worth the money. It is big, it will take you hours to get around to see everything, but it is well laid out and they do have a hop on/off bus tour. Well worth a visit.
