Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

If you love animals, be sure to visit. We recommend arriving early, as it gets very busy, but it's fantastic. We still won't visit the other attraction with live animals in town, and this is a great alternative.

I love the room the animals have compared to other zoos. I love how close you can get to the animals. I love the landscaping. I love the nice staff. They seem to love their job.

This is probably one of the best zoos in the world. not only because of its sheer size and animal variety, but also with regards to the condition the animals are kept in. All the animals we've seen looked very well taken care of and...More

The San Diego Zoo is just a delight. The layout of the zoo is navigable. The information provided seems to be just right and complements the main attraction: the animals. We chose to attend The Morning With the Pandas for an additional cost. For us,...More

The San Diego zoo is pretty amazing and also very huge. People have told me how big the zoo is, but you don't realize until you actually visit for yourself. Most of the time, when we go to zoos, we don't use a map, but...More
