The exhibits are larger, the animals are closer, and LOTS of walking make this a day to remember for everyone! The arctic exhibits (penguins, polar bears, and a fun "ride" like Star Tours in an Arctic helicopter), are NOT to be missed. Take the free...More

We have been to several zoos in the US, but this is by far the best! It is a beautiful zoo, well maintained and so much to see. There were volunteers throughout the zoo and all of them were so friendly and willing to help....More

This is the most exciting zoo in the United States. If you go to San Diego this place can’t be missed.

Both Zoos are fantastic. Probably the best zoos in the world. Most animals enclosures are as natural as possible. And at the safari park many roam free on many acres. Well worth a visit.

This has to be one of the best zoo's in the world, if not the best in the world. The attraction are designed for the animals which they seem to like. I have been to a few zoo's and I think in all my time,...More

The grounds of the zoo almost rival the animals. You can tell they are continuing to maintain and upgrade all aspects. Animals seem happy and content. Be sure to take advantage of the buses and skyfari tram as this zoo is gigantic!

We haven't been to the San Diego Zoo for about 25 years. Wow, what a difference. They've made major upgrades. It's an awesome zoo. It's clean. Friendly staff. We were there from opening to closing and had a great time. Our granddaughter loved the experience.

It’s definitely worth a visit, mostly because it’s well planned, big and nice. Arranged in different “continents” with lots of small and big animals. But don’t expect to see very much of the small ones in middle of the day - it’s hot and they...More

Zoo is great and huge. Bus tour is helpful to decide which sections to visit if you’re not willing to walk the whole zoo. Pricey though.

By the far the best zoo in the world (sorry Bronx, you're number one in my heart). Bring your walking shoes and take your time, so much to see. Wish I lived here so I could go here often.

Not sure anything in SD is affordable, especially not on the beach. Try Tijuana?

Hi Jess ... I'm not 100% certain there are pay phones, however the Zoo offices are right at the entrance, and I'm sure someone there can guide you. Have fun at the Zoo! Its wonderful.
