Housed in a 1937 dairy barn, Oren Dunn City Museum offers a unique view into our region's past. The museum's collection reflects the local and regional history of Tupelo and northeast Mississippi, focusing mainly on major milestones of agriculture, industry and local memorabilia. Examples include: the 1864 Civil War Battle of Harrisburg, the 1936 Tupelo Tornado, Hospital on the Hill, and a 1940's era model railroad of downtown Tupelo. In addition to the our permanent exhibits, Oren Dunn City Museum hosts seasonal exhibits, including but not limited to, the Annual Holiday Toy Exhibit in conjunction with the Lighting of the Museum and the Fossil Road Show & Geology Exhibit. We host two festivals each year: the Dudie Burger Festival, the first Saturday in May, and the Dogtrot Festival, the third Saturday in October. We host annual programs including Museum Summer Camp and Living History Days. Although the museum is closed on Saturdays, we provide special Saturday programming throughout the year. Check us out on the Oren Dunn City Museum Facebook page.

I recently went with my son on a school field trip. Everything was very interesting and there was a lot to see. The Veterans museum was awesome! Tony was very informative and kept everyone's attention. You definitely need more than 20 - 30 minutes to see everything in the Veterans museum. I plan on going back one day when I... More

We spent one night in Tupelo and had a couple of hours to fill before leaving. So glad we went to the Veterans Museum! The collection of America's Wars is staggering and the curator obviously is an expert! We could have spent several hours there, and would have, if possible. I have never seen so much history in one room!... More

This stop was very nice! To start off, admission for adults is only 8.00. Also, right next to the museum is a neat little pond with a walking track and a playground (perfect if you and kids have been cooped up in a vehicle/it's free!). The museum itself has interesting random things in the front part and war related items... More

Small charge for front museum. First building has memorabilia of the history of Tupelo as well as Louisiana. Back building is loaded with many amazing pieces from Civil War, WWI, WWII, Vietnam etc. Truly interesting to see! Mr Troy was very helpful in answering questions on the different pieces that he has been collecting for years. No charge for war... More

If you have a little time and want to see some different things from old Tupelo, it is worth a visit. They have an interesting model train running, some old fire trucks, an old diner, and a small room with old medical and dental equipment that is scary/fascinating. Though not connected to Tupelo, there is a wonderful collection of Hollywood... More

Good history of Tupelo, but the veterans museum in back stole the show. Memorabilia from different wars also lots of nazi items as well as American items.
