Whenever we decided we were coming to Boston on vacation, I was over-the-moon to plan a trip to see the U.S.S. Constitution in real life. As a lover of history, especially when it comes to U.S. History, I was like a kid in a candy store here in Boston. Seeing as though I live in Florida, I have an absolute affinity for all things nautical including ships, pirates, explorers, etc. One unique part of American history is our original build up and launching of the U.S. Navy. This ship here is the oldest commissioned Naval vessel still afloat and in operation. Originally launching in 1797, Old-Ironsides has been a staple in fighting oppressors and weaving through the young history of this country. Now to jump into it, the tour of the ship is FREE. Right off the bat, it's an excellent value. You have a tour guide who is an active duty sailor stationed as part of their deployment (if that's the correct terminology to use). They take you up to the top deck, giving you the general history of the ship, what tasks are still done to maintain this active ship as well as allow opportunities to grab some photos. You then continue to the second deck where all the cannons are stationed where additional information and history is given, as well as Q&A for others wanting to know more. Once finished, you do make your way back up to the top deck where you proceed to exit the boat. Now overall, the ship does not take a very long time to get through. Each guide will make it longer or shorter depending on their abilities and the activeness of the group. Once you've exited the ship, there is an actual museum that you can pay for separately that will give you a more in-depth history of the ship, the wars it's been involved in and the post war uses over its 200+ year life span. I'll do the museum review separately, however overall this is something I personally loved and would certainly recommend. It may not be worth it for all individuals, however if you are a lover of American, Nautical or Military history, this is an amazing stop on your trip. Recommended for Adults (young and old) and families with kids old enough to more so appreciate (or at least somewhat understand) the importance of the ship.…

If you are a Navy buff, this is part of your DNA. If you are a history buff, this is a piece of your puzzle. If you are simply a curious tourist, this is a stop in discovering many historical gems that make New England, and Boston so unique.

We had to visit Old Ironsides as it is something that symbolizes the US. Tour guides were in period costume & had a pretty good grasp on how things worked on board ship. Worth seeing.

A great ship. This ship was built before the 1800s. It served in the War od 1812, The most interesting part was the several decks of cannon. It was really cool to see the various types of cannon used by the ship. You can go below deck and see some of the crew quarters. If you like sailing ships, history especially naval history, you will like this ship. I recommend visiting this ship.…

Entry to the USS Constitution museum is cheap but well worth it. After visiting the museum we headed outdoors to go onboard the USS Constitution. As this is an active naval vessel, we had to go through security. No problem though. We were given a tour of the ship which I must say, I enjoyed more than I thought I would.…
