We took the October 6th cruise and the port tour arranged by Royal Caribbean's Anthem of the Seas. The Boston tour was very informative, went at a comfortable pace and included a stop at Cheers for a nice break. Definitely recommend the walking tour on the weekends. There is a lot of construction in the area and heavy equipment is... More

David P was a great guide and shared lots of information to look at Beacon Hill in a new light. The tour mostly circulated around interesting murders and hangings that happened in the area.

The tour we took started at the Massachusetts 54th Memorial on Boston Common, and was led by a young NPS ranger who possessed a great deal of knowledge about the history and historical significance of Beacon Hill. The architecure is amazingly well-preserved, even down to original leaded glass windows in buildings that have now turned purple from reaction with UV... More

Tour is run by the Parks service and is free. Whilst this is a bonus the tour is worth paying for. Tours are 10am, 12pm & 2pm each day and start in front of the State house. They are run by a park ranger. The tour takes you through Beacon Hill streets, starting at the end of the Black persons... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
