was recently in Boston and caught the Huntington Theatre's production of Sunday in the Park with George. The visual aspects were stunning and the music (singers and orchestra) were superb. Particularly the tough horn part! I wish I could have stayed longer and gone again. Bravo! The show plays until Oct 17 so hurry and get seats!

This is a superb theater with a great company. BU wanted to tear down the theater and sell the space for big bucks, but the community rallyed around our beloved theater and said "no". It is safe for the moment. Productions are innovative, always superbly executed, and sometimes provocative. The only problem I have is this: Huntington theater discriminates against... More

Our first experience was with Ether Dome a couple years ago after hearing a review for the play on NPR and it was excellent. Since then we have been back twice, once for "Colored Museum" (absolutely did not enjoy, nor did the other 3 people I was with) and once for "A Confederacy of Dunces" (ok, but a bit underwhelmed).... The performance was at the Huntington's Calderwood Theater and it was a perfect setting for this show. The actors and "signers" were all excellent. The story was compelling - and very heavy - but overall it was a very unique experience. Was a tad bit distracting in beginning since each actor has a "co-actor" signing, but you get used to... Incredibly talented actors. Wry, poignant, on-target script. Highly recommend - bring your teens, bring your elderly relatives who don't understand teens for peek into their lives. Kudos Huntington!

Missed seeing Disgraced on Broadway & pleased to catch it here. Actors wonderful & play won a Pulitxer. Very timely theme of racism, prejudice & paranoia in America.

I have to echo another reviewer and say there is not a bad seat in the house because the theater is small and intimate. Although the seats are small, we never got the"packed like sardine" feeling that can befall some newer venues that want to pack in as many people as possible. Never strained to hear a word. Look forward... More

I saw the excellent world premiere of A Conferederacy of Dunces at the Huntington Theatre. Though they could certainly have opened the theatre doors about 30 minutes earlier, the house was beautiful. All seats seemed to have an excellent view of the stage. Sound system was excellent, and it was easy to hear virtually every word. The building is beautiful... More

We have enjoyed several productions staged by the Huntington Theater. We were so favorably impressed that we became subscribers. The benefits are extraordinary. Not only do subscribers get the "best seats" and discounts on ticket purchases but the Huntington offers a convenient ticket exchange at no cost as well as "missed performance insurance". If you enjoy live theater the Huntington... More

I really enjoyed the play, but the Huntington Theatre could use an update. The actual auditorium is impressive. It's not a terribly big theater which makes for a nice, intimate experience when veiwing a performance. Because of the size, it would be hard to find a "bad seat" in the house. Having said that, I was actually a little surpised... More

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighbourhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
