My family of 8 went on a tour with Bob P. as our guide for a Friday, Post-Thanksgiving tour. My sister's family from Virginia and mine from MetroWest area (includes 4 21yr-24yr old cousins) enjoyed the stories very much. Bob was a great tour guide and really knew his stuff. I loved his personal touch when he added his own... More

We took the Freedom Trail tour on a cold Sunday and our tour guide made it very enjoyable. There was not a ton of walking, but there was a ton of learning. There were three generations of us attending, and we (none of us particular history buffs) all got a lot out of it. Would love to do another, perhaps... More

We took the Boston by Foot tour of Beacon Hill. The guide was excellent and full of local knowledge. Will certainly use Boston by Foot for future walking tours of the city. Well recommended

I highly recommend the Boston by Foot tour to get great insights into Boston's role in the American Revolution. Lots of inside scoop into the places and people leading up to the Revolutionary war. The tour guides are all volunteers, and they really know their history. Our guide Mark, was very knowledgeable and made the tour very enjoyable.

Very informing. Bob was an excellent tour guide. I learned a lot about the history of Boston. Not only about the revolutionary years but also about the more recent past.

Booked this last minute as only had a few hours and wanted to see as much as possible. My guide was very knowledgable and it was an interesting personalised tour. I think I crossed everything off my list and heard all the stories behind them. Very good value for money and much better than peering out of the window on... More

I loved this organization and the people; but this is NOT for everyone. Please be honest: what you want from a tour.Think of this as a really fun, interactive history class. Don't kid yourself: you'll walk a lot. If you tire easily or have mobility issues, you may not enjoy it. I went on two tours; both were over 90... More

Tom McNamara delivered an absolutely amazing walking tour for our family! His wealth of knowledge on our Road to Revolution tour is a shining example to the program's dedication to the history and preservation of Boston. Staying in Beacon Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
Beacon Hill
Visit this historic and ritzy Boston neighborhood to soak up its classic New England charm as you stroll down cobblestoned, gas-lamp lined streets. Bring your walking shoes, camera, and select a nice day to wander through the hilly neighborhood and check out its exclusive addresses. Louisburg Square, Mt. Vernon street, Chestnut street and the extremely narrow and widely photographed Acorn street make a nice walking path. Make sure to meander down Charles street to poke into boutiques and antique shops, cafes, and restaurants on this quaint shopping street. Don’t forget to catch a glimpse up close of the State House with its beautiful and iconic dome.
