Fun, funky booksellers. I hope I can come back and add photos! We spent time there Saturday night before our dinner reservations. They had a lecture happening and I liked that they had a sign on the front door asking people to be mindful of that. Lots of fun sections--banned books, etc. I found a beautiful card for my husband... More

What a quirky fun place! Stayed most of the time in the kids section with our daughter but loved the "blind date" brown paper wrapped books! First time I've seen it and what a great gift idea even. Tickled by the Star Trek character finger puppet magnets and other unique gifts. The staff was helpful and kind to our precocious... More

The blind date section of this store will rock your world. I picked up a fantastic read and I believe it will become a committed relationship.

Sadly, where I live, these kinds of independent bookstores don't exist anymore. All we have are two Barnes and Noble. So, when I saw this listed in the Asheville section of our guidebook, I knew I needed to stop in. It so happened we just missed a Billy Collins reading that evening, but he was still in the store signing... More

A trip to Asheville from Cleveland and Toronto is not complete without a visit to Malaprop's Bookstore. Supporting independent bookstores is one of our passions. Malaprop's is one of the best we have visited and love to support. The breadth of topics with great selections is fantastic. We will be back.

Very nice selection of local and national writers in a perfect location in downtown Ashville. The café has good food and coffee and they host writers for book signings and lectures. I would love to call this my bookstore and will be back next trip to Ashville.

This sweet bookstore is a treasured Asheville icon. I love the staff, the book selection, eclectic array of cards and wonderful events they host. But it is the atmosphere created by the serendipitous blending of all these ingredients that truly feeds my soul. My love affair with the store began over 15 years ago when I would drive two hours... My husband and I were wandering around downtown while on vacation and went inside this store. I loved how many cute items they had for sale besides books. I wanted to buy more but only left with a magnet, postcard, and a stamp. Will definitely return if I'm ever in town again!

Great place to browse around. A great selection and books and friendly service. They have lots of neat non-book items as well. Even my daughter who is not much of a reader enjoyed the store.
