We stayed in a hotel two blocks from the basilica and walked by in multiple times during a two-night stay. We popped inside one of those time and were impressed by the beauty, history and architecture. I imagine mass would be pretty cool, but it's worth seeing even if you're in the neighborhood and have a few minutes.

The serenity of this basilica overcomes you and leaves you in a worshipful and inspirational mood. You do not have to be Catholic to recognize that you feel close to God in this church. The stained glass windows portray major events in the life of Christ. The architecture is sweeping with the dome that has no equal in the US.... More

We enjoy seeing cathedrals on each trip we take and this is one of the most breath taking one we have come across. The old architecture is fascinating and the stations of the cross are glowing is a soft light that help you feel the presence of God. The stained glass also shows some of the most important parts of... More

We looked inside the beautiful old church. There was a funeral going on, so did't stay but a minute. It has lovely stained glass and the roses in front of the building was gorgeous.

The basilica is old (1905) and fairly simply decorated on the inside for a catholic church. Loved hearing the bells chime. Easy location to walk to in downtown Ashville.

This is a self guided tour. You just walk into the sanctuary, pick up a pamphlet, and read through the different points of interest. The architecture was beautiful. We spent about 30 minutes, and I'm glad we did.

I'm amazed that such an aesthetically beautiful structure offering a quiet place for meditation or to attend service is found in the middle of a place mobbed with tourists.

The church is beautiful, and at the time of my visit, collecting donations for repairs to upkeep the wonderful architectural details of the church. No staff was inside that I could see, just quiet and peaceful. Stained glass windows, a disorientingly perfect dome ceiling, and ethereal calm. I didn't plan to go here, but walking by and seeing it was... More

This is a very special church building. I am not a fan but this is worth the trip. The docent helped with the appreciation immensely.
