Asheville's first legal brewery since Prohibition was born in a downtown basement in 1994. Now a regional brewery, Highland is still family-owned. We offer the highest quality beer in welcoming and spacious venues both inside and out. An expansion in 2015 will lead to increased production, new private event spaces, and a rooftop bar above the solar array. Choose from year-round, seasonal, and several rare releases. The family-friendly atmosphere has made Highland a local favorite and a community gathering place. Tours are free - please see website for times. (Food or cash donations for local charities are appreciated.) Free music on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Visit our website for daily limited-release beer selections, events, and more.

We hung out for an hour or two and tried some of their beer. They do not serve food and the tasting area was very large. Clean bathrooms as well. Honestly not much more to say about this place. Great beer and a lot of seating availability. I think they do live music here as well.

Abby gives a wonderfully informational tour regarding the history of Highland Brewing Company as well as a great walk through of the brewing process. Their flagship beer (Gaelic Ale) is wonderful (and you get a tasting of it as part of the tour), and I also recommend the Mandarina IPA for you fellow IPA lovers.

Saw a reggae band while enjoying 2 flights of beer. Try the Beach Pony IPA . . . it's phenomenal. They have great brews and a warm, happy, family-friendly environment. Neat place. Will definitely return next time we're in town.

We were in town and stopped in for beer. Their Thunder struck and Black mocha stout are my favorites here. We grabbed some lunch from Micky D's and enjoyed cold beers with it. Lots of other beers on tap too. We will return next time were in town.

Abby gave us an informative tour of the brewery, from the ingredients, brewing process to the bottling and canning process. Also met Oscar, the founder of Highland Brewing before the tour, epic!

Lot's of tables and always some entertainment in the evenings. Food trucks outside make up for the fact that there is no kitchen. Their beers are fantastic. We had 2 flights here on our first visit, and liked all 8 beers we tried. Returned to see another performer during our 3-day visit and enjoyed 2 half pints of our favorites.... More

I have been drinking various beer from Highland for some time now. This was my first opportunity to visit the brewery. The venue is very relaxed and open. We arrived early and ate from the food truck on the site. (The Grubbery. Best fried Brussel Spouts you will ever eat.) The tour was very informative. Our guide really knew what... More

Husband and I had not visited before, so we took a tour. It was fun and informative. We learned quite a bit of the history of Highland Brewing. After the tour we had a flight at the bar. Neat place to hang out.

Fantastic place, it's in a large warehouse type building with lots of tables to sit at and a nice outdoor patio area. Beer was fantastic, good variety, I enjoyed a cask ale that was delicious. Live band made the night even better!
