Downtown Asheville is fortunate in being small enough to explore on foot, and a good way to get to know its history is by following the Urban Trail on your own (although guided tours are options, too). Maps are available in Pack Place, and you...More

A good idea but kind of dragged. At times it felt that something was trying to be made of very little. Not the easiest to follow.

The urban trail is just that . Sidewalks with panhandlers looking at tourists as prey. Don't waste your time looking at poorly constructed sculpture while the real beauty is captured in the Blue Ridge Parkway just outside of town. Hike in nature, not this "fake"...More

This was fun thing to do mainly because its free and self guided. A lot of the points of interest are not exciting but it does give you a nice taste of the history and a way to structure your time downtown.

Got the newest paper map at the Visitor Center but found it so impossible to use, we just finally gave up. We didn't even make it half way through. This is a great concept and a lot of money has been invested in the corresponding...More
