Such a beautiful drive, filled with wonderful pull offs, hiking trails and waterfalls! There are a lot of places with historical information where you can learn about the wonderful history of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

The parkway is several hundred miles long and very curvy. However, if you are in Ashville, you should stop at the Blue Ridge Parkway visitor center. There is a 20 min. movie that will take you on the entire trip and show you highlights. It is free and worth the time. The rangers and employees are knowledgeable about the park... More

We traveled towards the end of November. The drive was so beautiful. The trees were turning. I have a feeling it would have been even better perhaps a couple of weeks earlier as some trees were already bare for the winter. Part of the road was closed. Make sure you find out about road closures before you head up. We... More

With the dogs, the more technical hikes were not possible but there was enough to stretch all of our legs and relax along the... More

If you are not into hiking and working for marvelous views, this will be the perfect in between. The road is paved with miles and miles of gorgeous scenic view. Once you are on the parkway there are overlooks every few miles with different views to gaze out over while you enjoy a picnic lunch.

I've been visiting the Blue Ridge Parkway for over 40 years and it never gets old. The fall colors are amazing.

We spent 3 days Thanksgiving weekend driving and exploring the area from Asheville and north seeing most of the stops along the way. Unfortunately we were a little late for colorful leaves and the fires nearby created heavy smoke that made hiking impossible and roads closed in many areas as well many obstructed views. We have been up to BRP... More
