So many artists, so many things to see, make this a special place in Asheville. You can find thousands of things here, usually no two alike, in the shops all along the path. Stop in and see demonstrations and watch the artist create unique items and paintings!

If you are into old buildings being repurposed, pottery, painting, sculpture, textiles and every kind of oddity you can imagine. this is the place! After walking up and down the couple of blocks and in and out of the amazing galleries: most with the artist working on their next awe inspiring projects are present. Friendly, easy to talk with, time... More

Jonas gallery captivating for all ages. My hyper 12 year old daughter solemnly watched him paint a sculpture for 30 minutes.

Love this part of Asheville. Quite a few good artists working in all mediums. A place where you can by good art and not break the bank.

I do hand built pottery and teach, so it was very inspiring to speak with many potters and see their work. We spoke with one young VERY talented girl that gave, us tips on making decals from my husband's award-winning photography and the types of equipment/printer's we would need in order to transfer them to decals to put on my... Old warehouses and buildings along the river are the home for a great variety of art work by local artists. Went on a Sunday morning and most place were open (after 10). Many of the artists are working on their creations as you visit/shop. Relaxed and low-key, there are glass-blown pieces, clay, ceramic, wood carving and paintings of many mediums.... More

Worth seeing - guide/tour is not necessary but you definitely need a car. Buildings are grouped as are artists . So, 3-4 sometimes more artists either share space for retail/display or actual work area. The first group of 3 buildings we visited we are in the same area- the first was a warehouse mostly of women's polyester blouses, fleece throws... More

Many studios dot the old warehouses brought back to life after so many years of blight. We found most art from photography to collage and more. They also have a micro brewery on premises which was reasonable and good.

My wife and I visited the River Art District. We were impressed by the far ranging number of gifted artists in the heart of the city. All of the Arts were represented from painting, jewelry, sculpture, etc. You could literally walk from shop to shop seeing all sorts of art and crafts. It was really exciting to see so many... More

we strolled through the District on a beautiful Sunday last week. with 3 little boys and an infant in arms, this was tougher than we deserved. we had a great visit to the glassworks, those guys were very informative and entertaining. but when it came time to feed this little tribe of mine, we were disappointed 3 times in the...
