If you have any interest at all in the Cold War or, especially, the Cuban Missile Crisis, this is a must-see. While the grounds haven't been refurbished, the stories are definitely worth the 1 1/2 hours or so. Before this tour, I had no idea we had nuclear-tipped missiles ready to respond to any missiles or planes launched from Cuba.... More

We came to Nike Missile base tour on accident and it was one of the best spots in Everglades despite the aligator sites. Much respect for Scott Gabriel for volunteering and telling interesting stories related to Cuba crisis. He came prepared and gets everybody involved in his tour.

This is such an interesting bit of history! I had no idea that there was once a missile base in the Everglades. I enjoyed learning about how it worked and the training and technology they used to keep us safe.

This is the only stop that needs to be made in this area of the Everglades. Good thing is that is not far from the entrance. The gentleman that was at the sight answering questions was actually based here. He was quit knowledgeable with a good memory. I learned quite a lot from just this little hanger. I do not... More

As part of our tour of Everglades, my wife and I attended the ranger tour of the HM69 Nike base. There's enough of the buildings left from the 60s and 70s to help make the story of the men who served there easy to imagine. The highlight of the tour was one of the barns that held the missiles --... More

My husband loved it. It's historic and interesting learning the information and what our service men went though back then.

The park service does an excellent job with the history of what took place here during the Cold War . I highly recommend this and would also like to thank the volunteers whom help the park service maintain this exhibit.
