It's tiny, but has all the things you'd need to run the service window of a post office. The parcels are stored outside in a big bin box, so that's sort of cheating. Talked to the clerk and she said there is only one letter carrier (with 900 residents to support) who works six days a week every week. How?... More

It is about the size of a very small garden shed, and states officially that it is the smallest post office in the world. You can buy a postcard to send home from it. It is just off Highway 41, so is. I detour and worth stopping at if you are passing.

We passed this little stop, the Ochopee Post Office, and had to stop! There is a picnic area close by, but it was so cool to see a tiny post office in the middle of what felt like nowhere!

Smallest post in the USA located near Tamiami Trail. It is open from 8am to 4 pm. Very nice to visit.

We went from Miami to Naples via 41 and stopped at the "smallest post office in the US". It was really cute to see and is still operational. You can buy a card there and have it postmarked if you want, Great for kids to see and understand the importance of the US mail.

Living in a big city everything is big or bigger. To see how remote areas use a service that most of us take for granted at the size and ease is pretty humbling.

Plan your visit carefully because this has very limited hours. Convenient location when traveling through the Everglades. Originally a water pump house but was converted to a temporary post office when the General Store was destroyed by fire. It never moved since 1953. M-F 8-10, 12-4 Sat. maybe 10-11. Get a post card and have it mailed to your grandkids.

I've seen outhouses bigger than this Post Office. It was actually open when we got there. We took a few photos. Not in the most picturesque location, but it was veritably tiny.

As retired postal employees we had to stop here. Unfortunately the office was closed when we were passing thru but we did mail a letter there!
