This is a National Park Visitor Center. No better or worse than any other such visitor center I've been to. Rangers on duty to answer questions and sell souvenirs. An interesting video about the park and region. Restrooms.

There is so much to do in this park and have to stop by any of the several visitor centers in order to find out what all there is to do in the park. We got information on the area at the southern part of...More

Fairly typical National Park Visitor Center. Ranger there was more interested in comparing trail stories with the youthful eco warriors who were there rather than the two seniors who wanted some information. Got snarky when we asked about scenic drives rather than hiking. The water...More

They have a great 3D map to get your bearings in the park and a really nice 20 min video presentation which is well worth seeing. (It is the same video they sell in the store for $10). There is a fait selection of souvenirs...More

Always start at the visitor center when in a new and large park like Big Bend. I makes a lot of sense to get a good overview of the land and its history by visiting an excellent facility like this visitor center first or at...More

There's not a lot here but the large 3D map when you walk in is impressive. Mostly a gift shop though.

I thought this was a nicely organized visitor center, with helpful staff and interesting displays on the inside. There is comfortable seating with high signal wifi which was helpful. Outside, there is a nature trail that loops around and has descriptions and identification of the...More

The staff at this visitor center are truly helpful and very friendly. Lots of souvenir items for purchase and wifi signal is excellent. Restrooms are located outside (but still connected to) the visitor center and remain open even after the office hours of the visitor...More

There is a Walmart before you reach the park and another gas station next to Panther Junction Visitor Center (but they are frequently out of fuel). Terlingua gas station would be your next best choice.
