As always need to stop for the stamp. But that's not all, make sure to take a look at the exhibit and talk to your friendly ranger for tips on where to go and what to see if you haven't done your research already.

This is the HQ of the park, so it has good toilets, wifi and info booklets to help you. The park ranger was also really friendly to give us the info we needed to plan our trip.

(Warning: Young adults from Central Florida visiting for the week) While it's not directly at the park's entrance- still a 30-minute drive in- this is probably the best of the park's visitor centers to begin at. We told the staff our length of stay and where we were staying and they immediately spit out suggestions for our limited time. OTHER... More

We rested here to use the wifi, which is a rare find in Big Bend. The visitor center has a map model of the park, rangers to talk to visitors, and a selection of very interesting books, including many books telling real-life stories about things that happened in the park (we couldn't help buying two).

This was our first destination into the park from Terlingua. It's around 30 miles at 45 MPH to get here. Very little if any pull offs on the road. There was an informative film to watch and great large relief map of the park to get you acclimated. There are rangers there to answer any questions and also some books... More

Located nearly in the center of the park at the intersection of the park’s two main roads and open daily 9am to 5pm, with reduced hours on Christmas, this is a good place to start your visit to get oriented to the park, have your questions answered by the helpful rangers as well as obtain backcountry and river use permits... Stoped here and heard the rangers giving hikers lots of good information. Little gift shop where you can purchase books, maps, etc. Also a stop to get your national parks passport stamped!

Not sure if the member of staff that was on the front desk woke up on the wrong side of the bed but he was an extremely poor representative for the National Parks Service. As the 'face' of the service for people entering big bend he was rude, condescending and terse. He put a real dampener on our mood for... More

They have great exhibits here and a nice map of the area, but if you are looking for t-shirts look elsewhere. Great book selection.
