Excellent place for hiking, nature loving, picture shots and cardio. There are plenty of trails all identified with different colors. Nice trail map displays on the intersections. Close to residential neighborhood known as safe crime wise. Beautiful streams and adjacent to the great Potomac river. Poor on available printed trail maps. Lack of state park staff, paved and enough parking... More

This is a great place to reconnect with nature after living in a large suburban area. The only problem is that everyone else thinks so too. This place is often crowded with no parking available. When you first start off the walk you will noticed an awful smell which eventually goes away. The trails (except for the brown trail) are... More

My boyfriend and I made the mistake of visiting on a sunny Sunday afternoon. The first and second parking lots were filled to the brim and we ended up having to park on the side of the road in nearby neighborhood. Which was fine, I just wish there were a sidewalk to make it safer for those walking with children or... More

As the weather is getting nicer, both parking lots fill up faster and faster. I parked in the West lot which is twice the size as the East and it was almost full by 9:15a on a Sunday morning. When I left at 10:15, I could have sold my spot and made one gentleman very happy when he saw that... More

Easy but steep. Took our 4yo and he was dragging his rear on the way back up. No one was there and it was wonderful. We enjoyed taking photos of the area and having it all to ourselves.

The smell along the trail was awful--sewage. Small waterfall. Lots of people in the water and on the rocks so it was hard to get any uncluttered pic. Easy wide path though.

There are trails provided for hikers of all levels of fitness. Parking is very limited, so on weekends (especially during summer), remember to come early. At the bottom of the trail is a lovely waterfalls area. For those that want a fairly leisurely hike that isn't too intense in Northern VA, this is a good way to spend a morning.

This is a beautiful park on the edge of the Potomac River with hiking trails through wooded parkland. It's not nearly as crowded as Great Falls National Park, which is right next door. There's also no entrance fee. Parking is somewhat limited. You can walk on the roads or on the trails, both easy to follow and well marked. It's... More

Wonderful place for hikes with little kids. Our kids are 7 and 3 and they love walking around here. Not much elevation so it is easy. Enough paths for variety. Great way to see nature without traveling too far and with causing kids to complain about being tired and bored. All seasons are good for visiting for different reasons. Although... More

This is a very nice little nature preserve sandwiched between high-end neighborhoods just outside the Beltway. Look for the sign describing how locals saved the land from developers. Hiking down and back to the river is fun, plus you can link to trails running up and down the river.
