This is a great place to visit if you want to see natural beauty, but aren't necessarily up for a long hike. There are still trails if you do like to hike, but this park is designed for the view to be accessible to people...More

Breathtaking view. You can park across from Old Angler's Inn, either in parking lot or worse case on the road. Nice 2 mile easy walk to the viewpoint. But go early...it gets really busy.

Loved the overlook spots with great scenery along the Potomac River. Wonderful getaway spot from DC. Pick an odd day and odd time to go and you'll probably have the place virtually to yourself. Weekends (especially long weekends), are very busy, and it took us...More

This is a national park, so there is a $10 vehicle fee unless you have a pass. These falls are not high, but they are many and mighty. They are a series of rugged, twisted falls on the Potomac River just outside Washington, D.C. The...More

We live only 9 miles from the Park and have visited it countless times with friends and family. The Park is located in northern Fairfax County. The center piece of the Great Falls National Park is, of course, the Great Falls of the Potomac River,...More

Absolutely wonderful place for a hike. When you start or when you finish (or both), you get great views of the Potomac River and the falls. Really fun to visit after a large rainfall and watch the more adventurous kayakers.

My husband and I hiked River Trail and partially on the parallel trails of Carriage Road and Patowmack Canal Trail with children. We saw many other children on the trail. River Trail was rocky, but the children enjoyed climbing over the rocks. Several beautiful views...More

Great Falls National Park is a gem - great for hiking and picnics in every season of the year. Sometimes we visit and have fun even if we do not spend much time looking at the actual river. Great during fall foliage!

Yes, there are plenty of places in which you can use your stroller. However, there are some places in which the rock outcroppings hinder the trails, somewhat. If possible, use a child backpack rather or in addition to your... More
