Take lunch, snacks, sunscreen, and plenty of water! There are no restaurants or stores inside the park. Stop as often as you would like to enjoy the views. Don't forget your camera and make it a habit to look behind you since that is where some of the best views can be. 🙂 Last tip: Go in the off-season to reduce the chance of large crowds on the trails.Visited November 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 3 December 2022
- 1xPlorWorld63 contributionsWhat can I rate this place: beautiful, amazing, outstanding, peaceful, you can name it all.Its my 1st time I've been to Arches. What can I rate this place: beautiful, amazing, outstanding, peaceful, you can name it all. But the summer is not the best time unless you can deal with the heat. I would recommend winter or spring. You get more energy to see beautiful arches, figures and red rocks. You do get to drive around a bit to see the scenic views. Most of the Arches are not visible from inside your car. You have to get out and go for short hikes. There are many hiking trails but I only did one hiking (Dedicate Arch) since I was on the tight schedule. So if you do not have time like me, at least try one hiking to dedicate arch, you won't disappointed. I promise you that. A must see. Bring water and snacks to keep you going but this is not a difficult hike tho. I definitely can't wait to go back and spend more time there. There are many hiking trails i need to explore.Visited July 2022Written 21 December 2022
- jimles7Princeton, Kentucky673 contributionsLots to see at Arches National ParkLots to see at Arches National Park. It's cool driving up the face of the mountain on switchbacks from Moab. It's not cool that you have to have an allotted time to get in. Arches scenic drive is 22 mi and takes about 1 hour. The Park avenue viewpoint is totally incredible. This is a must see park.Visited September 2022Travelled as a coupleWritten 26 December 2022
- TerryRxyzBoone, North Carolina137 contributionsSimply Amazing! There are the arches, of course, but to me the massive stone blocks were just as amazing. Well worth the visit. There are lots of hiking trails, but if you aren't up to long hikes there are several places worth a short walk for better views. Unless you are into serious hiking, you can do it in less than a day. Do check out the entrance requirements before you go as they try to find ways to address the massive over crowding. They've tried issuing entrance passes, and closing the entrance for part of the day. Those efforts are successful in keeping crowds under control but require visitors to know in advance what the current plan is to avoid disappointment.Visited October 2022Written 10 January 2023
- JoeFRocklin175 contributionsPictures can't do it justiceVisited on a clear cold blue sky day in late December and enjoyed every minute of it. Crowds were down off-season but it was still pretty busy. (can't imagine what it's like in summer peak season). I took tons of pics and hiked in to some of the arches. Trails were treated with snow melt crystals but were still slippery in spots. Good for families. Winter is a great time to go.Visited December 2022Written 14 January 2023
- Christopher G1 contributionAwesome experience. If you like hiking trails it is a blast. We went with our young ones as well which, although happy they got to experience it, I think it was a bit much for them. It was difficult to enjoy as much as if we had went alone. Lots left unseen as there is a lot to see. But no regrets.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten 19 January 2023
- Von1287Albany, New York771 contributionsGet here early and stay all day!So amazing! You would think you would get tired of arches but you don't! It was super hot but we were able to enjoy each arch sufficiently. We had our timed entry for early morning so we could see things before too many people came in and this was smart of us! We got to see Delicate Arch early and while there were plenty of people we were glad to have done that hike early before the heat really kicked into high gearVisited September 2022Written 10 February 2023
- VeveSalt Lake City, Utah222 contributionsHikingSomething off my bucket list. Grew up in Utah but just never had the time to see this beautiful place. Weather was ok still cold and during the hike some ice. Take water and be prepared for cardio. I would recommend hiking sticks there are some places that are rough. Took about 3 hours I walk slow. Took many breaks. People said hi a lot hahah felt like I was in a small coffee shop. If your Native American you get into the park free!! Visited during low peak season so parking was ok I can’t imagine how busy it is when it’s summer.Visited February 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 15 February 2023
- Mary G8 contributionsGreat half a day stop on a road tripGreat family experience. We were on a road trip and it’s a good stop to stretch legs and walk to see the pretty views God created. We turned around after the Windows opening since we didn’t want to spend the whole day their, The map is very helpful with info on easy kid friendly hikes. No service in some spots, bathrooms scattered throughout. If your passing thru Moab, make the stop!Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 February 2023

First time there and I’m just excited to plan to come back! We only got the see like 8 arches out of all the ones they have. The scenic drive was one of the highlights too! Just driving and viewing all the beauty! Just a surreal experience

I visited Arches National Park in the Fall, and the weather was great for cool hikes throughout the three days I was there. Arches is one of the most enjoyable National Parks. The park offers several hiking trails ranging from easy to challenging. Be well prepared and planned to take on the challenging ones such as Fiery Furnace and Devils Garden trails. If not into much hiking, the park has several look out spots on the scenic drive from which several arches and rock features can be enjoyed with short walks. The geologic features in the park are absolutely stunning. During the peak season in the summer, Arches has timed entry requirements. Check out the park website for details.
Arches National Park is absolutely worth visiting. The nearby Moab is a wonderful gateway town.

Although each arch was spectacular in its own way, we had the most awesome time in the Fiery Furnace. You need a permit and watch a video followed by a cautionary talk to get in.

This is a beautiful park that can mostly be seen in about half a day. I would recommend arriving early in the day and starting with Delicate Arch, as that is the most popular spot in the park. It's also one of the steeper trails. So getting that out of the way with fewer crowds and cooler temperatures is the way to go. Then you can check out the other areas of the park afterwards, like Double Arch, Landscape Arch (at Devil's Garden), and Park Avenue. Also, as a bonus, if you're staying overnight nearby and you have clear skies, I would recommend going back at night. The park stays open 24 hours a day and offers some great opportunities for star-gazing.

This was an amazing day! We had reservations for 8:00 am entry and glad we did as we were there for over six hours. There are small walks, medium walk/hikes and longer, more strenuous hikes throughout the park. Come with the intent to do at least one or two of the medium walk/hikes, especially to see the Delicate Arch across the canyon (if you can't do the longer, tougher hike). Bring your lunch as there is a picnic area. You need plenty of water. We were there during the week in the fall, so the traffic, lines etc were not a problem. There are not a lot of parking spaces at the scenic areas so plan accordingly.

This park is such a beautiful place to visit. There are so many interesting places to stop and take photos or go for a hike. If you visit in the summer take plenty of water and sunscreen as it’s very hot. Even if you have mobility issues you can see many of the stunning rock formations just by driving through. Best to book your timed entry early so you can enter at your desired time. The visitor center and gift shop is very nice as well.

My group loved this park, the trails are pretty accessible for all levels just watch out for the heat and check AllTrails first for conditions. We loved the permitting system as it did seem to cut down on the amount of people in the park and we found parking at almost every stop. Simply go online at recreation.gov to reserve, I believe it’s $2 per permit and you can only have one per day. Obviously if you get to the park before sunrise, you don’t need a permit to enter or to hike Delicate Arch which was an awesome hike (not super accessible) and I believe you only need a permit April thru October. Double check the website tho!

We spent the day here and had the nicest time! We didn’t bring enough water and forgot sunscreen. Don’t recommend doing either. The weather was ideal and the people from all over were wonderful. The scenery was post card perfect. We packed a lunch and had it at delicate arch.

We went before 7 when we were there in April. You don't need a pass.
I have a fear of heights and get vertigo. Which hikes can I do and which should I avoid? Thanks.

The bus tour was a great way to see the park. It stops at most of the most popular spots and you can get off and walk around. If visiting more than one day , this is a good way to see the park and then go back and hike the points you have further interest in exploring. Have fun. Moab is great!
I'm a bit confused with the timed entry & the vehicle pass. If I go to Arches, do I need to purchase both? I just got a vehicle pass for it but not sure if I should also get the timed entry pass. Also, do I need to get another entry pass if I go to the Canyonlands or I can use the one I got for Arches?

Hi Amber! We went in November and didn't have to use a timed entry pass. I know that during some of the busier months you do have to sign up to enter the park. Check the website NPS.gov, select the state, and it will list all the parks with various amounts of info. I would highly recommend the NPS annual pass since it allows you to enter all national parks under the one singular pass. We bought ours at REI and it cost a little under $80. Enjoy!
Hi, I am visiting Arches NP next week with a 30ft RV. Are there any restrictions to RV's?

I would contact the Park for Camping with your RV. I am sorry I cannot directly answer your question. By now in 2023 they might have space for the 30ft RV>

I would agree with others that 4 or 5 hours is the minimum to see the basics. You could easily extend it to all day with some basic walking/hiking.

We will be heading out to Utah in late March. We are borrowing our daughter's 35mm camera as our camera no longer works. She only has a regular lens with hers, no telephoto. Should we invest in a telephoto lens for her camera or will a regular lens give us some excellent photos. Just an fyi: I'm not a hiker, only short distances 1 mile or so. So if it helps to get fantastic photos, we may have to consider it. Thoughts?

if your explore is the main reason, zoom lens will do the job. I left all my gears and fancy lens in the car. Hiking did require a lot of energy and didn't want to carry anything at all. I ended up using phone and go pro mostly.

No- you can see a lot by driving through. You can take some short hikes if you want to or long ones if you have a lot of time.
