In the past few years we have taken in Harpers Ferry and Gettysburg. Antietam is a must as well. Rangers are very kind and welcoming as you enter the visitor center. The museum, the panoramic view of the battlefields, and the movie are all great to start your visit. The views alone are worth the $10 per car entry fee.... More

We were given the name of a battlefield guide, Bob Murphy, he was absolutely outstanding. This is a very complicated battle due to "the Ground". The terrain is it what made it such a killing ground. After three hours - we had a great grasp of the battle from both sides. The entire area is like stepping back in time,... More

If you like civil war history, this is a great visit. A/V presentation is very good. Hiked several of the trails through the park. Vary walkable. Walking gives a much better sense of the battlefield layout. Made for an interesting and enjoyable day.

So much history to absorb in a beautifully preserved battlefield. Standing in the middle of the battlefield you can just imagine how it must have been for the soldiers. Very moving!

Just took another tour of Antietam. I’m working on a research project involving the battlefield so I’m making repeated visits. Once again, I relied on an official guide, and I’ll say it again here: these folks are incredible. My guide this time was Martin Pritchett. He was so versed in the history of the battle. I was amazed by the... More

A fascinating place! You really get a sense of the events that took place here. Whether it is the movie, walking or driving to the key spots history speaks. We drove round the six mile or so signposted route, but if you have the time, looks a great walk.

This is a fantastic place to visit. Learned so much about this difficult, sobering war. The staff were so knowledgable and helpful. Everything was just very impressive. SO worth the time we took to visit here. A MUST see and do.

My wife and I recently went to see the Antietam battlefield as part of a "weekend Civil War Tour". We took our time to visit the museum and tour the battlefield. It was fascinating to see all of the places where the Union and Confederate soldiers fought during the bloodiest day of American war history.

This is one of the best preserved fields in the nation....We live here (home was part of the battle) so it is a daily 'visit' for us!!! Not commercialized like Gettysburg, serene and reflective of what happened here in 1862.
