Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

This is a location worth visiting. One of the most iconic views of the bridge can be found from this beach. There is a hike long the beach, and over the rocks (Watch out for tides - try going during low tide if you can)...More

Went to see sunset at Pacific Ocean and Golden Gate bridge. Uber-ed from downtown (20 minute ride), arrived 30 minutes before sunset, and encountered tremendous traffic jam. Finally stepped out of car and walked to beach. Very crowded, mostly locals at beach. Great sunset, but...More

This beach is great, pretty sizable, mostly very clean and welcoming. The parking lot may be full on weekends and holidays, but the views cannot be beat. There is no snack bar, so bring your own refreshments. Super photogenic!

On occasions wind swept with foamy surf, during warm spells, the beach is great for sun worship (the north end of the beach is clothing optional and popular with gays). Fog or shine, there are excellent views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin Headlands...More

This beach is nice without too much litter and offers some hiking options. The views of the Golden Gate Bridge are incredible! Please note that the end section of the beach allows nude sunbathing.

Could be on the cooler side, but it is not unusual to get warm, sunny weather well into the fall (TIP the fall is the best weather season in SF). That said, it could also rain. I have been on Baker Beach in sun, fog, and... More

Their is rocks close to the surface of the water. To keep ships away this was built. This is what I had been told by a couple of people who lived near the south end of Baker Beach
