Mile-long Baker Beach lies at the foot of rugged serpentine cliffs west of the Golden Gate. Large waves, undertow and rip currents make the beach unsafe for swimming, but it provides panoramic views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Marin Headlands and Lands End. You can fish or check out the shorelife along the beach and rocky shoreline. Restrooms and picnic tables are nearby.

The reason I traveled to this beach was to get a better view and angle of the Golden Gate Bridge. That was true, the view is spectacular. The atmosphere of the beach on the other hand is very odd. There are many nude old men...More

Cold in the winter, but beautiful overall. Cannot wait to come back in the spring/summer and explore more. They need to have decent bathrooms around though.

You can see the bridge on the right side of you. The beach is beautiful. Lot of dogs not on a leash. There is also random areas with nude people so be on a alert with younger kids.

Could be on the cooler side, but it is not unusual to get warm, sunny weather well into the fall (TIP the fall is the best weather season in SF). That said, it could also rain. I have been on Baker Beach in sun, fog, and... More

Their is rocks close to the surface of the water. To keep ships away this was built. This is what I had been told by a couple of people who lived near the south end of Baker Beach
