Breezy, well peopled, safe, sunny, expansive views, easy to reach, tons of restaurants a few blocks up on Chestnut Street. Great place to see ships pass, regattas from the local yacht clubs, Terrific place to exercise and, folks really do go fly the most complicated, magical kites there.

We stumbled upon the park as we continued our walk from Giradeli Square. It was a beautiful weekend so all the locals were out picnicking in the park. There's a Safeway at the bottom of the hill- grab some wine/beer and snacks and enjoy a few hours relaxing in the park.

We came here just to enjoy a park and take some bridge photos. The park is basically a big empty field without shade or seating and insufficient parking. The marina blocks the views unless you're just wanting to photo the boats. I see most of the reviews were during an event. Bring a chair, sunscreen and plan to park early... More

We picked up some sandwiches across the street and decided to eat the Marina Greens... Plenty of parking... It's free.. Amazing views of the golden gate bridge and Alcatraz.... There are some really expensive homes right across the street as well. This a great place for locals and tourists to take in many sites and it is free.

Every year in October, San Francisco celebrates Fleet Week featuring an Air Show that is best seen from the Marina Green. This is the center of the events. Best to be there way before the start of the Air Show at 12 before it gets too crowded.

San Francisco is a busy city but has pockets of nature not to be missed. Try visiting the Marina Green to see panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Alcatraz Island, and the Golden Gate Bridge. The free open public space is covered with natural grass so your pets and kids can romp. The area gets windy so dress accordingly. Some... More

Such a lovely clean well kept area. Plenty of parking. Great views over the Marina and also seeing the Golden Gate Bridge. Great for a leisurely stroll along the Marina.

This grassy field was on my bike route coming from Fort Mason and headed back to return it at the Presidio. It was pleasant to see so many active bikers, walkers, and joggers taking advantage of the area. They even have an outdoor fitness court here as part of the National Fitness Campaign. Unveiled in 2012, it offers individuals seeking... More

It's a simple green area, but with the most unbelievable views!! And if you're taking place in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon, this is your transition & finish area, so it's extra special!! Great for walking, running, cycling, dog walking, frisbee...fantastic!

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
