We rented a bike to get to know this garden. You have plenty options of places to do so. Some very touristic, some bike stores, not that touristic, as our option. 8 dollars per hour. We spent 3 hours, but we went all the way...More

We enjoyed our morning spent walking around this park. As birders we were keen to find some birds and we did. The botanical garden was very interesting.

Nice way to spend an afternoon away from the busy city. Enough to do but make sure to take drinks and a snack as there are limited places to eat in the park.

The park is free to enter. The different exhibits charge ticket prices such as gardens and museums, etc. It's huge so bring a stroller. Not many food options other than the museum cafe, so you may want to consider packing a... More
Is it safe to visit GGP? I’ve become concerned about going to GGP, after reading numerous negative reviews here on TA. Some travellers have described it as unsavoury, dangerous, dirty or filled with drug addicts and homeless people! My wife and I are in our late 50’s and we will be visiting SF for the first time in Sept from Australia. We’re not exactly adventure tourists who can be ready for anything! My wife especially is quite nervy, so although I have included GGP as one of the places to see, I’m now beginning to wonder whether we should just drop it. I would however like to go to the De Young Museum, so maybe we should just visit that one place and then get out. The day we plan to visit is a Sat. Not sure if that makes it better or worse? Any tips to stay safe if we do go? Thanks

I went there with my husband in April this year and it was totally safe. We walked loads of the trails, went to the Japanese garden and the boating lake. Didn't see any unsavoury characters.....unlike in other parts of SF
