What a beautiful large park! Friends and I were lucky enough to visit on a quiet Tuesday afternoon so it was very peaceful. Highly recommend the Botanical Garden, grab a bench by the pond and zone out!

We took a tour and I'm so glad we did. The story of how this park came to be was so interesting. We spent quite a few hours here and loved it.

This park is loaded with all kinds of trails for hiking and biking. Plan a hour or two at the Japanese tea garden. There is a small entrance fee. And tea and a small menu of cookies, etc is quite enjoyable after exploring this well...More

Great atmosphere, there are things for all age groups to do. Be prepared with the proper clothing as the weather can turn quickly here.

The park has very little nature about it. It is difficult to get off the main roads running through the park. Very little R&R feeling. Rather head straight to the beach.

We were in San Francisco for just 4 days, and there's so much to see in this park we didn't have time to visit all the attractions. I would recommend the Japanese tea gardens, the lakes, the walks, and you must see the Bison enclosure.

I am not a city person. The first day is exciting, the second day is interesting, but by the third day, I need some peaceful time. The Japanese gardens are sublime. Take your camera for some beautiful pictures! The gardens are living art. Textures, sculpture,...More

Walked through the park on our way to the natural science museum. Certainly worth spending a couple of hours. Nice walking paths, awesome plants, people jogging and taking dogs for a walk, nice lake.

Did this as part of the hop on/hop off bus tour and took the trolley in the park to the ocean. It was lovely and you don't realise how much green space there is in San Fran.

The park is free to enter. The different exhibits charge ticket prices such as gardens and museums, etc. It's huge so bring a stroller. Not many food options other than the museum cafe, so you may want to consider packing a... More

Is it safe to visit GGP? I’ve become concerned about going to GGP, after reading numerous negative reviews here on TA. Some travellers have described it as unsavoury, dangerous, dirty or filled with drug addicts and homeless people! My wife and I are in our late 50’s and we will be visiting SF for the first time in Sept from Australia. We’re not exactly adventure tourists who can be ready for anything! My wife especially is quite nervy, so although I have included GGP as one of the places to see, I’m now beginning to wonder whether we should just drop it. I would however like to go to the De Young Museum, so maybe we should just visit that one place and then get out. The day we plan to visit is a Sat. Not sure if that makes it better or worse? Any tips to stay safe if we do go? Thanks

I went there with my husband in April this year and it was totally safe. We walked loads of the trails, went to the Japanese garden and the boating lake. Didn't see any unsavoury characters.....unlike in other parts of SF
