Real Groovy is the equivalent store in Auckland, New Zealand. The stores stock similar selections of Vinyl, DVD, CD etc etc. It is great to see stores like this still in operation for the enthusiast. 1987

There are some bargains to be had and some obscurities to be found. If you're really into music, put aside at least an hour to browse, or a few if you can spare.

Amoeba had a free concert for Nahko and Medicine for the People which was fantastic for the fans since all the local shows they were doing were sold out! Not only is their selection of music amazing but they had a fantastic small stage for...More

Having been a fan of Amoeba Records for a couple of years now, I felt it was my duty to visit their original location. The Amoeba in Hollywood is my favorite record store of all time. This location is not as large, but it is...More

Although huge it can be pretty difficult to find exactly what you want. The staff are very helpful though so make sure you pester them. Personally I prefer smaller store which tend to be more focussed and I don't need to see row after row...More

Sure, we get a lot of music through Soundcloud and Spotify, but go here and you'll get sucked into the way things used to be. Massive store of CDs, LPs and cassettes (!). There are tons of CDs in $1 clearance racks, and they include...More

The area surrounding the intersection of Haight and
Ashbury streets, “The Haight” still exudes vibes of
the 1960s counterculture as a haven for vintage
clothes, music, pop posters and body piercing shops.
While the Summer of Love ended decades ago,
Haight-Ashbury has turned into a melting pot of
hippies, hipsters, and professionals. Walking through
its streets can still feel like stepping back in time.
