Today we were in Portsmouth Square at 9:20 am, to make sure we were on time for meeting the DiscoverWalks guide for the 9:45 Chinatown tour. We've done similor free (tip-based) tours before in various other cities, so we have quite some experience in how...More

We decided to immerse ourselves in an area that we would normally just pass through. Our guide was Maddy, and she was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We had to cut our tour short b/c we had to get to the pier for Alcatraz tour but...More

We did the Barbary Coast and Chinatown tour over Labor Day weekend. The group was very large but our tour guide did a great job of talking to everyone and making the tour a great experience. The tour guide and tour itself are definitely a...More

We had a great time with Discover Walks during the Chinatown tour during our recent stay in San Francisco. I especially enjoyed the fact that we got to go inside so many local establishments, from traditional Chinese groceries to a fortune cookie factory. We walked...More

Madeline was our guide on both tours. She is highly engaging and knowledgeable. She showed us places on both tours that few tourists would ever get to see. I highly recommend Discover walking tours.

We did both the North Beach and Fishermans Wharf Tour on one day, North Beach is the better one of the two I thought, since not such an over-touristed place of town. Our guide Maddie was great, explaining a lot in great detail (as I'm...More

Several people gathered for the tour on Sunday morning and no tour guide showed up! Very disappointing to say the least.

I went on the Chinatown as well as the North Beach tour with Madeline. She had great energy and both of her tours were informative, entertaining, and a great way to get to see and learn things you might not have on your own. This...More

For those of us who want to get a feel for the place beyond just checklisting landmarks, this sort of tour is great. Many, many thanks to our energetic guide, Madeline, for her well-informed presentation and the way that in about hour and a half...More

We have visited San Francisco many times but never did a walking tour. We visited sites we never would have seen on our own like the local fish and bird market and learned a lot of history and culture. Our guide, Madeline, was energetic and...More

Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful
backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to
the Marina. Originally the location for the
Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose
remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much
of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a
world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a
jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city.
