Leave on a ferry from the Embarcadaro or from Tiburon for the short ride to the island. Nice hike around island to the immigration center for a historical look at immigrant arrival to California. Beautiful vistas.

Yes. Nice place to camp in or near San Francisco. Check Reserve America punto com, or use search engine to find site. I tried to include URL, but site would not allow it. Hope this helps
