The Filbert Steps is a beautiful spot where, due to the steep conditions, a garden completely replaces the street. The homes are survivors of the 1906 earthquake. Many steps so not good for disabled folks. Enjoy visiting with friendly neighbors but keep in mind that this...More

So nice to get away from the crowds of tourists at the Pier and Embarcadero. The steps are a great workout and break from the usual tourist zones. Along the way there are interesting homes and gorgeous gardens. For me it felt like a great...More

Shhhh. Don't tell too many people or this gem will be swamped. It's one of the most charming features of San Francisco, steep steps leading from the top of Telegraph Hill through a lovely neighborhood to the Bay. Great views along the way.

If you are in good physical shape, I highly recommend taking the steps to the top of Coit Tower. The steps provide amazing scenery. In some cases, the stairs pass next to the back patios of people who live next to the stairs. Many are...More

Who needs the gym machine when you can hike the beautiful Filbert steps from the bottom at Sansome street to Coit Tower. Bring plenty of water and good walking/ hiking shoes. The hike up the steps can be strenuous.

I'll admit it, I'm about 20 pounds overweight, but I still made it up these amazing stairs, at a slow and steady pace starting at Sansome Street and stopping for a breather a couple of places along the way. I wouldn't advise it for anyone...More

Start from the east side (embarcadero side) of Filbert to get the full effect. Beautiful gardens line the pathway all the way to Telegraph Hill Blvd. Take your time, enjoy the climb, very peaceful and serene part of San Francisco. And if can somehow watch...More

Not a must see but cute neighborhood to stroll around. It's good exercise;san francisco has huge hills, the steps are fun.

North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds
of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian
ristorante come together to create the charming
neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping
grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of
North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always
suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in
the city exude as much European charm and style.

Not sure what the address is but if you go to Coit Tower, both sets of stairs are on the street just below I believe. Since that is well known it will be easy to find and then you can ask someone if needed. Also if you are... More

The restaurant changed hands (don't know when) and became the Dalla Torre. The Dalla Torre closed in 2006 and the site was converted to a private residence.
