If you have some time available when you are in San Francisco and you are in the mood for shopping, do not miss the chance to take a ride in this street full of shops, boutiques and shopping centers. If you are going to spend all day, there are many nice little restaurants where you can eat something in between... More

This is like the heart of the city of San Fran. Heaps of shopping and cable cars etc. I would stay somewhere close to this location as this is where all the action happens

Start at Market, and just keep going up and over the hill. Many hotels. Tourist restaurants. Trolley car route, but also major square, and various street acts along the way. For tourists' taste, I think this street, more than Market, Mission or many others, is a nice proportion of "local color" and shoppers. I used to find this area boring... More

Loved Union Square with the artists market... highly professional artists had their artworks for sale over the weekend. A great opportunity to meet each artist and discuss their work and hopefully buy some. Macy's is right across and lots of outdoor tables and places to sit. Enjoy!

This is where all the new money middle aged goes to eat, buy stuff, drink, and look for their next divorce.

The city of San Francisco contains many small neighbor hoods. One of the best is Union St. in Cow Hollow, Cow Hollow, well, because cows used to roam here. From Franklin to Fillmore there are many small men and women's clothing shops. A couple of banks to get your cash from an ATM. And places to eat. If you like... More

This is a great place to walk about, if you like shopping fill your boots. Plenty of shops and restaurants. Or you could just stroll like we did you take it all in. Gets very busy during rush hour so try and avoid that time of day.

It's a very long street, nearly the length of San Francisco. The most interesting parts of the street from Van Ness to about Filmore, with plenty of boutique shops, cafes, musical venues and interesting architecture. Great walking area if you limit yourself to a few of the more engaging blocks.

This is a long street in San Francisco, but it's unique in that it's the only street with two-way traffic through the Russian Hill neighborhood.

The portion between Octavia and Steiner streets has nice shops of different nature beauty, clothing (including a Lululemon), bars and restaurants.

Staying in Marina District

Neighbourhood Profile
Marina District
Beautiful homes, beautiful people, and a beautiful backdrop of the Golden Gate Bridge welcome visitors to the Marina. Originally the location for the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915 (whose remnants can be seen at the Palace of Fine Arts), much of the land was filled and flattened to accommodate a world’s fair. That ample space has given way to a jogger’s paradise at the northern edge of the city. With the picturesque bay setting as its backdrop, it’s no surprise that the area has hosted numerous movie productions. Daytime activities focus on café culture and boutique shopping, while the evenings turn this neighbourhood into a party-going hotspot.
