GET OFF THE TOUR BUS & URBAN TREK WITH US! Urban Trek USA's - small group (maximum of 7 people)- urban trek is an EXPERIENCE better than being aboard a tour bus or shuttle. An urban trek is a sightseeing & walking tour experience where you will use the city's public transportation system and walk around and learn about the different neighborhoods, see great views around the city, and have lunch or a coffee break at the best places in the neighborhood. You will feel almost like a local San Franciscan after your urban trek. Check the customized (private) urban trek for a party of four or more.

My sister and I just did Trek 4 and enjoyed it immensely! Anton is the ideal tour guide. His love for and knowledge of SF is evident, and he made us feel very much at home. He carried a binder in his backpack with historical photos and extra info to share along the way. He was full of helpful information... More

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Urban Trek 4 walking tour with Anton. We enjoying hearing the history of the various parts of the city we toured and appreciated his "insider" tips for places to eat and the best cocktails. Anton was an excellent tour guide, having lived in San Francisco over 30 years. His passion and enthusiasm for... More

My husband and I had a wonderful time on the Urban Trek 4 tour with Anton! Anton's passion for San Francisco is contagious. We have lived in the area for 4 months but, thanks to Anton's knowledge of the city, gained a much deeper appreciation for the rich history and culture of San Francisco. The trek route is planned perfectly... More

Excellent and well informed guide who went above and beyond to show the highlights of a city he loves. Lots of fabulous 'secret spots' to take photos away from the crowds. Great tips about getting around on public transport. Would recommend this walking tour highly.

My husband and I throughly enjoyed the Urban Trek 2 with Anton. He responded so quickly and provided all the necessary information ahead of time. The tour was educational and fun at the same time. Anton's passion for and knowledge of San Francisco is apparent and contagious. A great way to see San Francisco and it's charm.

I had the Urban Trek 4 tour with Anton. Arriving early at the meeting place, he was friendly and conversational. For the next 4.5 hours he led the tour through all of the locations described on the urban trek website. For me, the walking pace was fine, except going up hills. Whenever I requested that we slow down a bit... More

We did the Urban Trek 2 tour which was awesome! There's a lot of walking invovled, but what makes it interesting is the history and information that the tour guide Anton provided us throughout. It was like re-living history! The before/after pictures, detailed guide on events that shaped the city was just amazing! We enjoyed every bit of it. He... More

Staying in North Beach / Telegraph Hill

Neighbourhood Profile
North Beach / Telegraph Hill
The aroma of freshly roasted coffee beans, the sounds of opera, and the sights of the romantic Italian ristorante come together to create the charming neighbourhood of North Beach, once the stomping grounds for the Beatnik Generation. Although parts of North Beach are known for nightlife that’s not always suitable for younger visitors, few neighbourhoods in the city exude as much European charm and style. Peruse a bookstore for the literature of Kerouac, Ferlinghetti and Ginsberg, grab some gelato and head to Washington Square for a perfect afternoon of people watching. Just east of North Beach, the hills and staircases of Telegraph Hill are a unique delight. At its peak, the art deco Coit Tower provides sweeping panoramic views of the bay and city. The beautifully landscaped Filbert Street Steps, a street too steep for a roadway, rewards those willing to hike uphill. Keep your ears open and you might even hear the squawk of the wild parrots who call this neighbourhood home.
