About
Standing over 900 feet above the city, these two hills offer hikers sweeping views of San Francisco's main sights (we recommend going at sunset).

It’s free to visit. Dog friendly. A good place for the family. The street art is also pretty interesting. Also not to far from Castro which is an interesting area to visit. Would recommend. Would advise to bring water etc, no fountains at the top or anythingVisited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 20 May 2024
- Laurence PNewhaven, United Kingdom439 contributionsStunning viewsStunning views and well worth going to visit. Hop on a bus that goes near the top. The drivers are great and let you know which stop to get off. It is quite a step climb at the last bus stop. Top tip:- Regardless how sunny and hot it is, wrap up warm as the wind is very cold at the topVisited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 18 August 2024
- Thomas VOakland, California18,496 contributionsViews Down Market StreetThis is where one goes for the great view down Market Street. And it can be very windy and refreshing. And you will see all the way over to Oakland and beyond. But beware of car break-ins in the parking lot, so don't keep anything in your trunk or the back of your car, or on the seat. The car should be empty. And then you can relax.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 28 September 2024

Great place to get a view over San Francisco on a clear day. Very easy to get to by public transportation. Just take the F streetcar to the last stop (17th & Castro), then cross the street to take Bus 37 to 74 Crestline Drive. All the tourists and skateboarders will get off here. It's a very short but steep hike up. I went to Noe Peak first (which had less people), then Christmas Tree Point. I think you can only see the Golden Gate Bridge (through the fog) from Noe Peak. Very windy at the top and lots of crows. If you take the bus back, you can get on at the same stop. The bus will then take a break at the last stop before going back to the Castro.

We were so lucky, on our last day in SF we got to go to Twin Peaks and the weather was perfect! No fog just clear skies and beautiful views of the entire city. It’s FREE, no need to pay for a tour. Just drive up there and enjoy the lovely views!

Twin Peaks are the tourist attractions spot and situated in the western part of the city San Francisco. Two peaks are adjacent to each other. One can view the entire San Francisco city from the top of peak. Few steps are to be climbed to reach the top.

For us this is where we met SF for a first time this time. This point gives you overview of the city and the Bay Area.
You have basically 360 degree view of everything happening here. Perfect spot to start a journey into San Francisco’s streets.

Even on a “rainy” weekend, the views were still worth it. We climbed up one of the peaks - it has stairs which does help. I can imagine during summer or high tourist times it would be nearly impossible to park.

Guess what? You can go up to Twin Peaks using public transport. We did! We took the Muni 37 and walked up the rather steep but picturesque wooden steps till we reached the road leading up to the Twin Peaks.themselves. We then walked up the Twin Peaks and yes, it was definitely worth the effort. We got amazing views of the City of San Francisco far below us. The weather was kind to us. It was a sunny morning and that helped!

Not conivinent to get to if you don't have a car. very cold and windy, can't stay there for long, I was there for about 15 minutes just cause I needed to wait for another ride. There's a view of the city but it's not worth the effort nor the time. Overrated in my opinion, you can spend the time better walking around the city.

It was a rainy and foggy day but still managed to catch some great views and pics here. The drive up to the peaks was fun with all the winding roads. Definitely worth a trip to see San Fran from up there!

No question .. this is one of must do's when visiting San Francisco. I can think of handful cities in the world that have such a great spot to view the entire San Francisco area (360 degrees) from one spot. This spot costs $0 to visit, zero to park, but if you want to climb either one of the peaks, it is a bit of a steep hike. Great spot, must visit. Safe, clean and you see everything.

Yes, it’s a very dangerous place to stop!! Thief’s come in a car and break your window in 2 seconds, even if you are 3 feet away from your car! Never go there again, not safe at all.

I see you can get bus 37 here. How much does it cost and how long does it take one way?
Written 1 January 2020
To be honest I was renting a car so I dont know about bus prices sorry....Its not a long drive it took me less than 20 mins from Golden Gate park to the parking space uphill.

I recently moved to the area and was wondering how true the rumor is thats around here that the coyetes are infested around here. I have heard them and my husband saw one. But is it a concern for humans walking around at night ? Or day...

You have more to fear from the human species at night here than the coyotees . Humans are much more dangerous here than the animals .

Greetings! I am planning on visiting San Francisco this summer. In regards to Twin Peaks is this somewhere you drive to? or is it a short walk/hike? I know because of the elevation it will be cold. So we would bring sweaters. I would like to know how long of a walk/hike this is in order to be prepared. Thank you!

I would definitely drive, its way out of the town. Well worth the effort though. I actually got my bearings of the city from there. Every time I was in the city after that I thought of standing on the hill pictured the city and I always worked out where I needed to go.
Tip if your really into walking, try the walk from Fisherman's wharf to the golden gate bridge then over the bridge to a lovely little town called Sausalito, then get the ferry back to pier 41 at Fisherman's wharf. its about an 8-10 mile walk its not possible to get lost, there is a place to get a coffee just before you go up the hill to get to the bridge. Take a warm layer (even on a warm day as the middle of the bridge can get windy (almost always is) and cold. There are two routes from the bridge to Sausalito We took the road but you can get below the bridge and take the trail. Sausalito is a lovely place loads of eating places shops and coffee houses bars etc. and the ferry back cost about 8 dollars each and you get the most amazing views of the bay. Just a thought.

Boa tarde, Luis C.
Written 31 January 2017
Can you walk to the top or do you need to have a car?
Written 21 June 2016
You can also take the 37 bus and get off at the end of the line. From there it is a short walk up a natural trail cut through the grass to the peak.
Its a bit of a walk. I would recommend possibly taking a taxi/uber up then walking down if interested in some exercise but not a lot.
There are natural unmarked walking paths up the sides of the hills. Just look for where it looks people have walked and watch out for the occasional mountain biker

I use a mobility scooter to get around. Can you accommodate people using a scooter?
Written 16 June 2016
I assume you are talking about getting there in a vehicle and then using the scooter while there. In this case I don't think you will have any issues. There is a parking lot with designated handicap parking places. This and a surrounding view area provides the panoramic view of the city. (There are some walking trails that take you a little higher on the peaks and they would not be accessible, but the view from the parking lot is what most people go to see.) I hope you enjoy going there.

Bonjour,
Bonne journée a tous
Written 6 April 2016
Pas faisable à pied et les transports en communs ne sont pas géniaux de ce côté là. Je vous conseille plutôt de loger près de Fisherman's Wharf.
