This is the end of the line for the Powell-Hyde cable car, adjacent to Ghiaradelli Square. The long pier that curves out into the bay offers great views and photo ops of the Golden Gate bridge, Alcatraz, Fishermans Wharf, and the city itself. Much quieter and less commercial than Fishermans Wharf. On a cool weekday evening it was quite sedate--joggers,... More

As an avid open water swimmer this was a dream swim. I made it happen this Feb. You can leave stuff on shore and just enter the water (leave with a friend if you can) or go to one of the Swim clubs at the north end of the park and pay $10 for lockers, showers and sauna. The water... More

The Aquatic Park Pier (curve pier near Maritime Museum) offers the best views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Alacatraz Island, Ghirardelli Square, Coit Tower and the Bay. You walk way out into the water, so views are unobstructed. Parking was free near Van Ness Ave. and it's just a short walk to the pier, beach access and the square or... More

As a lifelong swimmer and lover of a good open water swim, I was thrilled when I was invited to join some members of Golden Gate Triathalon Club for their weekly swim in Aquatic Park. It was a goal of mine to swim in the Bay this visit and Aquatic Park offers ideal conditions. We went in the morning, at... More

I strongly recommend coming to Aquatic Park. First of all, it offers good view! Secondly, there are many free-of-charge places to visit around this neighbourhood. San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, Maritime Museum and Hyde St Pier. Not to mention that you could stroll the semi-circle pier that extends to the ocean. Totally owesome!

I ventured here to Aquatic Park to enjoy some take-away lunch from a local establishment. Aquatic Park has a well-manicured grassy zone with flowers and plants, walking trails, architecture, cement stairs, a nice beach to listen to the sounds of the ocean waves, a view of Hype Park and some old ships, and the Hyde Street cable car turnaround. The... More

Just next to Ghirardelli square lies a nice park with water access and a small and pleasant beach. It was a good change in pace during our visit. Kids can play around and spend some of their energy before continuing to other areas.

Aquatic Park is located at the end of Jefferson Street. Located within this area is the beach where people play and relax in the sand or swim in the cove. There is also a nice walk available out to the end of the municipal pier for some great photos of the GGB, Maritime Park, Ghirardelli Square, the Maritime Museum and... More
