Just blocks from the SF Museum of Modern Art (SF MOMA), next to the Contemporary Jewish Museum, and out the back door of the Marriott Marquis, are the Yerba Buena Gardens. These gardens offer a nice place to relax and soak in the greenery amidst the hustle and bustle of the city. Grab takeout from one of the local restaurants/street... More

It's kind of nice on a sunny day, but a lot of homeless dudes hang out there and one can be overwhelmed by the scent of old pee wafting past they nostrils.

Nothing stands out but an urban open space with terrace and fountain for locals to hang out. The buildings sorounding the garden are gorgeous. Some photo shooting angles exist.

Coming from New Hampshire, it was great to get some sun in December. Sit on the benches just above MLK memorial and listen to the waterfall or relax on the lawn with a view of St. Patrick's Cathedral. Nice change of pace for some coffee or tea on a Saturday afternoon.

Nice park even on a rainy day. It's not huge, but good for a short break from the grey and concrete of the city.

Visiting at black friday evening, this park is quite busy with pedestrians and shoppers after weariness of walking for the best deals in shopping districts. It' quite safe and well lit with enough benches to sit relaxed while seeing the surrounding traffic.

Great place to hang around especially with a kid. He can roam around and play with other kids. Fresh and nice views too.

Although you might think by the name that this is some sort of botanical garden, it is really a city park (although, of course, like most other city parks it does have its fair share of flowers, trees and other plants). It is located right behind the Moscone Convention Center South and across from the San Francisco Museum of Modern... More

I had the best time at this festival on September 3rd. Outside in the sunshine. Wonderful big band music. Wonderful singers and great dancers. Best of all it was free. It goes on until October 30 with different types of music being featured each Saturday. If you are in San Francisco, Don't miss it!

Yerba Buena Gardens always amazed me when ever I ride by it or walk through this huge park. There's always children and adults, each doing their own things! Adults could be sleeping, children running around, adults chatting on the bench,. with the Martin Luther King waterfall near by. Strolling by there are plenty of choice activities. Going to the children's... More

Staying in SoMa

Neighbourhood Profile
South of Market (SoMa), has an urban and sophisticated vibe, but you're more likely to find big nightclubs and lots of industrial loft residences than you are to find boutique shopping. Although it’s the epicenter for tech startups in the city, visitors will be able to do more than just business - museums, top quality restaurants, and the San Francisco Giants now call this neighbourhood home. Most of its freeway-sized streets may not capture the same character as other neighbourhoods in the city, but pockets of charm, like South Park, can still be found throughout its side streets.
