Fantastic jogging trail

You can jog and have in front of your eyes the placidity of the firm water and the green of the grass and the trees

There is a trail along much of the lake, but much of it is next to a noisy road. There is a pit toilet at a parking lot for the lake. It's supposed to serve as a restroom for visitors, but it was horrifically bad and almost unusable.

It's a good place to go for a run or walk around, which is about 4 miles long. The only downside about it is that it's right next to the main roads where so much traffic exists, so it does get pretty noisy.

It is about 5 miles around the lake on a very nicely paved trail. You can also cut across at a couple locations and walk beside the golf course. There are exercise stations (push-ups, sit-ups, chin ups, etc) along the route.

I come here for a nice walk/jog when I'm stressed or just need to get away. Plenty of parking. Pretty safe as well. Certain places you need to dodge the geese and pigeons, but other than that it is not a bad place to get some exercise in. About 4-5 miles total I believe (don't quote me).

We enjoyed a nice walk by Lake Merced in San Francisco. The views were very nice. There is areas for picnics as well. There is also a golf course nearby. On this trip it was the end of January on a nice sunny day. It is large 614 acre park. The park is also popular for boating, bike riding, and... More

I use the lake for jogging. It is peaceful and the scenery keeps me jogging until I finish running around the lake. You'll see high schoolers rowing in the lake, people golfing, and the landmark Dirty Harry shooting range. It's also near the beach which makes its location even more enjoyable.

One of my favorite places to walk in this part of SF. The lake is ringed by high rise buildings and is actually quite urban, but as you gaze toward the towering trees, the scree of birds in your ears, the City melts away. Enjoy!

We love to walk here in the mornings - a great amenity for the locals. The birds are a joy to see and there are always a few people fishing. Not sure if they ever catch anything as the water looks a bit murky but fishing is more about contemplation anyway! On Thanksgiving morning we were excited to see a... More

Spectacular vistas, great golf course. Unfortunately it was too foggy to see the course, The clubhouse was fantastic, wish we could stay longer!
