Experience the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science, art, and human...

Experience the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science, art, and human perception that's dedicated to the excitement of experimentation, the pleasure of discovery, and the power of play. Indulge your curiosity in over 600 exhibits-indoors and out-and explore eye-opening ways to understand the world around you. Don't miss the iconic Tactile Dome, where you can take an interactive excursion in total darkness using your sense of touch as your only guide (be sure to make a reservation in advance). There's also a unique museum store plus two delicious places to eat: the SeaGlass restaurant, which has a stunning Bay view, and the Seismic Joint cafe. Located at Pier 15 along San Francisco's Embarcadero between Pier 39 and the Ferry Building, the Exploratorium is easy to get to by public transportation (the F-Market & Wharves Historic Streetcar stops out front and it's a ten-minute walk from BART or MUNI) plus there's parking nearby. Tickets are available online (recommended) or at the door.

Best rainy day activity for kids or even worth a sunny day stop

So many "hands on" exhibits ( take your pocket hand sanitizer in cold season)) The kids are having so much fun they have no idea it is an educational activity .

Visited with our 9 year old boys and they literally had to kick us out. There is so much to do there. Wish we had something like this at home, we'd be there everyone weekend.

Absolutely amazing visit. Clean, spacious and with more hands on exhibits than you can imagine (really you cannot begin to imagine). Give yourself a whole day to enjoy, explore and play. In the words of my 11 year old daughter: "one of the best things to do in San Francisco". Go and have a blast!!! And an awesome learning experience.

The exploratorium is probably one of the best science centers in the world for young children. Hands-on learning that are fun, exciting, and actually functional most of the time. Adults learn as much as kids!

Many stimulating and interacttive evolving installations. My grandchildren understood more of it than I did, but I learned a lot!

Take your kids. They and you will love a day here. Really interesting and fun. It's close to Golden Gate Park and Fisherman's wharf so you can fit more than one thing into a very fun day.

A terrific place to visit with kids and had we known it was open specially for the holidays we would have walked faster and had a longer visit. Loads of interactive exhibits and the variety meant there were lots of different experiences to be had.

Recently went with my family. The Exploratorium makes learning science fun. The kids learn as much as the adults. The place is pretty well laid out. Plan on spending at least a couple of hours there (if not longer. We did). The Exploratorium also has an cafeteria-style eatery. The food is not bad. The admission is not real cheap, but... More

I love this place and take people who visit from out of town there as often as possible. Don't miss Scott Weaver's toothpick sculpture. See also the shadow box, the distorted room, and the illuminated fog exhibits. And bring your smartphone -- you'll find tons of Instagrammable moments.
