For many years I have seen Alcatraz in movies and documentaries. On my very first visit to beautiful San Francisco I made sure I paid a visit. It's a weird feeling, a very weird feeling being here. My friend who accompanied me has been here a couple of times in the past and said the tour was not as comprehensive. I would not have known if I had been here by myself. Anyhow, I enjoyed it just the same. Those prisoners certainly had a wonderful view when outside in the yard. You have to go at least once in your life time. I visited in May 2019.

This is a lot of bang for your bucks! We took the early bird trip, first ferry of the day, and it was worth it as it doesn´t get too crowded. You´re walking along on your own, with complementary headphones explaining and narrating the history of famous inmates and the history of Alcatraz. Very, very interresting!! You´re welcome to stay as long as you want, and take any returning ferry back. (trip was in Oct 2019, not 2020)

Loved the history and tour of this place. It was pretty cold and windy the day we went but was worth it. Love the idea of being able to come back every 15

Great tour. Narrated tour on the ferry over. Once on the island you take a recorded guided tour. You wear a headset and follow along. I was skeptical but this was great! So informative. Modern day history. it is a tourist attraction but definitely worth it. Book in advance.

I think the history and stories behind this place as far more interesting places self. Have to really get into the folklore when you're standing in a cold damp dilapidated cement building. The stories about it are great and the people who were there are very interesting. If you're one of those people I'd like to say I've been there, then by all means go. However, there are so how way cooler things 2 do in San Francisco
