I visited Alcatraz for the 3rd time and first time in over 20 years. Always and amazing and interesting place, from the boat ride over to the self guided audio tour of the prison. If you are in SF, don't miss Alcatraz

Alcatraz is the must see attraction. We visit SF every few years and we still do the touristy things over and over. The short boat ride gives great views of the Island, the city and Golden Gate Bridge. The audio tour is very well done and timed just right. Just hanging out and enjoying the views from the island made... More

Really enjoyed morning on Island four hours in total. Don't book through Viator. Had terrible experience with them. The island is a must see.

Visiting the Alcatraz is one of the best attractions SF has to offer. Apart of touring the famous prison with the audio guide, a 15 min cruise to and from it is also a memorable experience with a fabulous city panorama from the bay. In order not to miss that, I suggest booking online on their website alcatrazcruises.com way in... More

Honestly I don't understand why Alcatraz seems to be a tourist magnet. We didn't do a boat tour but saw it from Pier 39. I mean you see a prison in the water-that's it.. nothing special, nothing great..

I have visited Alcatraz three times. Twice in the day and once at night. It is a really good tour and fascinating. You get amazing views of the city. I would definitely reccomend this tour. Tickets for the night tour get sold out really fast, so book in advance.

A morning or afternoon over on Alcatraz Island is a must for any visitor to San Fran. Even if you are not into history - the view of San Fran from there is great! No wonder those prisoners tried to swim to shore. For history lovers the audio tour is interesting. Staff are friendly and helpful

We visited here in January and really enjoyed it. We spent about 4 hours on the island. We really enjoyed the audio tour - it really explained a whole lot of the history. The escape attempts were highly interesting! Would definitely recommend.

What I thought would be an educational walk through an old prison actually turned out to be a very entertaining afternoon! Rain and wind couldn't dampen our enthusiasm for this attraction. The audio tour is amazing!! A must do when in San Fran!
