Fun hike. Not too strenuous and I'm not really in shape. The first section was harder to me then the last part. I wish I had brought my inhaler since I have exercise induced asthma. Very windy. Shoes with good traction is best.

Quite a steep climb but the reward is spectacular views from the top. Don't go when it is raining if you are not a skilled climber but when dry it is fun and not too difficult. I wouldn't wear sandals and a walking stick helps but is not necessary

Not the hardest hike we've done but was rewarded with awesome views of Lanikai beach, Kailua beach and Waimanalo. It's a short hike about 20-30mins. Make sure you wear shoes with grips cuz it can get slippery. Steep trails in some areas and steep drop offs. I saw people with flip flops on and was struggling going up. We only... More

Went half way to pillbox and still a fab view of the mokes. I'm not a hiker but moderately athletic and could have made it all the way up.

This actually might have been our favorite hike on Oahu! Great views without having to walk very far! We found parking in a nearby neighborhood and then walked on up to the trailhead. It is all uphill at first and we got quite warm, but the breeze and the view of Lanikai Beach, which we knew we were going to... More

Although a bit steep and slippery at points, but if you have some mountain goat type skills, its an easy hike. It is well worth the views and photos from the top!

This is a wonderful and relatively easy hike - just be sure the trail is dry. My wife and I are in our 50's and we made it up to the second pillbox in about 45 minutes and we took our time. The views of Kailua and Lanakai Beaches are absolutely beautiful. We also found ourselves reflecting on those who... More

Went for sunrise hike which meant starting in the dark. After a lot of rain, the trails were hard to follow in the dark, so bring strong light and good grip shoes. Hike is moderate, but doing it in the dark was well worth it. Wow was it worth it!

I'm not a tourist but this is still one of my favorite views after a hike. It's simple and fun at the top, not to mention the killer iconic views of the Mokes. My only complaint is the crowds so we like to go super early. And don't park and block the neighbors. We like to park near Kailua Beach... More
