Paddle through Kawela Bay in an area that in ancient times was reserved for the Ali'i or hawaiian royalty. View beautiful coral reefs, tropical fish, and WWII wreckage just 3 feet below the Peekaboo™ window on your kayak. Stop at a honu "cleaning station" and watch as some of our green sea turtles get cleaned. For adventure seekers you have the option to surf your kayaks on small 1' waves or try out the sport your guides invented: Stand Up Kayaking! Explore the secluded Kawela Beach and hike through the jungle tunnel to explore the WWII bunker at Protection Point. Swim in the calm waters of the bay or bird watch for endangered species on one of the many hiking trails through the forest. Relax and enjoy the local refreshments provided for you by your guide. Your keiki will help you search for the buried treasure with the map they find on the trip. Along the shore you can see lava tubes, small sea caves and blowholes. While kayaking, watch out for the two dozen resident sea turtles the Turtle Bay is named after. Visit the "Lost" Banyan Tree where the hit TV show Lost, Pirates of the Caribbean IV and Hunger Games 2 were filmed. Optionally you can decide to stay longer at Kawela Bay and your guide can provide you with a walking map of the 2 mile trail back to Turtle Bay Resort.

Overall a great experience, in a nice relaxed environment. At one point though one of the guides was talking about Pearl Harbor and used the term "Jap" in front of my Japanese wife, which is not the fault of Shaka Kayaks, but... come on dude

Great guides, excellent for family outing. Saw sea turtles and a monk seal. Surf was rough which kept us pretty much in the bay.

Aloha, mahalo nui loa for your review. When the outside is rough we do tend to see more turtles inside the bay and it is a popular spot for the monk seals to rest in the calm water.

First time kayaking. Yet I felt perfectly safe and enjoy the whole time. The guide was very professional and try to make the best of our time and experience. I saw two sea turtles swimming!

Aloha, Safety is our first responsibility but that doesn't mean you can't have fun time and experience. We are so glad you did.

I appreciate the patience your guides took with those who were not experienced kayakers. My wife is somewhat physically challenged, and she had a good time. I am an experienced kayaker, and I too, had a good time. Keep up the good work!

Aloha Bill, sometimes it is hard to do a tour for both novice and experienced kayakers but we try our best and are glad you appreciate it. Mahalo nui loa.

Aloha Jess, thank you for recommending us and you were lucky to see more than one monk seal as they are normally solitary. In this case it was an adult and a juvenile.
